alright i started fitting my cai today, and nothing is going together nicely at all, the pieces arnt lining up at all. not to mention the fuse box isn't going to go back.

anyway i need some pics from you all.

first a pick of the breather hose and where it connects on both ends (GT)...mine doesnt go into the intake pipe (i think its going to the throttle body, i'll take a pic tomorrow).

second i need a pic of where the filter is and the end of the "L" pipe.

third i need a pic of the connection of the two pipes under the fuse box.

any help and pics would be greatly appreciated, and im sure i'll figure something out.

thanks, btw mine came in two pieces unlike yours did...

thanks a bunch man, the intake i got was a little different than yours, i did get it to fit in the best i could, my fuse box doesnt go back into place at all so i had to zip tie it and ended up breaking the tab on it in the process.

the breather hose on my car goes directly into the throttle body and not to the intake.

overall i dont think mine went together as smoothly as yours did, esp the fuse box. anyway i havent had enough time test it out yet, so ill let ya know and ill post up pics hopefully tomorrow smile.gif

DSToyo, that red hose of yours from the valve cover to the throttle body normally goes from the valve cover to the little pipe piece sticking out of the intake tubing about 2 inches to the right of the coupler attached to the throttle body.

IPB Image

I highlighted where mine is in red on the picture. it's almost in a straight line.

I would believe yours should connect to the small bit of pipe i can see in this pic like so:

IPB Image

95st-celica: I noticed you put the Air Temp Sensor in the hose coming off the intake pipe. DId you put a breather on the valve cover?

^you're right, but mine for some reason doesn't. thats what i was asking before, i looked into it more and it does go there. there is a connection for it there, that is where the old one was, and on my stock intake there was no connection for it either... it kinda threw me off a bit, i guess they changed it over the years idk.

the thing as you said screams up in 4k rpms! it does seem a bit quicker to. i think it was deffinitely worth the $33 i spent (they sent me the Bomz kit which goes for closer to $60 smile.gif) kinda disapointed in the fuse box mounting tho.

one question, whats with the hiss or whistle at idle... i had a civic with a cai and it never did that.

DSToyo: Did you install the Air Temp sensor at all? Did your intake come with a hole pre-drilled for it?

no i had to drill it, put the grommet in and stuck it under the pipe kinda so you cant really see it wink.gif

Yep, that's exactly what I had to do too.

Oh, I also updated the pics of my install on the 3rd page of this thread.

Your butt dyno may feel a difference, but the power difference is negligible.

Looking at these photos, rain water can definitely find its way into that space, bypass valve isn't something you all should be scoffing at.

^ not disagreeing with you at all, but can water still get sucked up if the filter is surounded by the underbody plastics and fender well. i heard that the filter has to be almost fully drenched in water.

edit: i do feel a little difference, but its more for the sound... deffinitely worth the $33

Its a long shot to do any real damage. Experience has taught me better safe than sorry. Don't want to get a case of the shoulda's.

next time i wash my car im going to drench the front of it with the hose an then take the plastic away an see how wet it really gets...ill prolly be washin it in a couple days so ill let yous know...there really shouldnt be to much of a problem with water because it is almost completely surrounded and the rest the filter will catch...the bypass like i said befor is just more restriction on the air flow...but always safe then sorry....i'll let yous know

i did a test like that when i was cleaning my filter, i took the filter off and stuck a hose right into it, the water goes in and out of the pores so fast its ridiculous ( couldnt fill the whole filter up with water from a fire hose lol) , i dont think there is anyway the water could STAY in the filter but getting water IN is definetaly no problem, if you think your engine has enough power to suck water all the way up the piping without stalling then buy a bypass valve, in my opinion they just restrict airflow and defeat the purpose of a COLD air intake...

in case you cant tell i dont know what to make of my test lol, someone else do a different test and let us know if were gonna be $40 poorer

hey guys... i just installed my CAI. i noticed some of your pipings are different and have different angle bends. i happened to have one that didn't suit the GT too well (or maybe it's just my car, i dunno)...
first, the smaller breather outlet broke during shipping, so i had to grind it off and seal it. second, i cut off the larger breather hole only to drill a larger hole for the air temp sensor. third, the L-shaped pipe was too long so i cut it shorter. and the rest of the time i spent cutting metal.
imo, i have to say it wasn't as easy as i thought it would.

anyway here are the pics, enjoy

since i had it installed i didn't notice any noticeable increase in power.. but the sound of air being sucked in is louder.

my fusebox has been broken since i first got it, i just glued the tabs together at the time. but now they're broken again. i'll probably leave it for a while... unless i cut out some more metal and make it fit better.. but then i'll still need a new fuse box....
meh.. i'll leave it the way it is for now...
