the Whole AWD conversion

I got the parts for about $2k the rest was time and labor. I think we went through this earlier in this thread. My buddy will still do this for people on here...I will look back at his price...

Here is the old infomration but is still right. If anyone is interested I will hit him up to see if the price is the same....

The parts cost me approx 2k (excluding the tranny, driveshaft, rear diff - I got those with my clip). The hardest part about that was finding a place that would part out a car ship them out to me. I got them from a guy in Europe. It is a junk yard. I would suggest we go through someone on here rather than taking a chance like I did through e-bay. But I got the parts and that price included shipping. Since it was me and a friend of mine doing the work the price on labor is a rough guess. Looking at what we did and the time it took us, I would say that would have probably been about 5k (a lot of time spent figuring it out as we went) if it was done at a shop. I talked to my friend and he said he would probably do the work for anyone on here for around 3-4k. Now some of the parts can be gotten cheaper as a couple people have pointed out on here that the rear is the same on a ST165 and ST185. The arms and hubs also appear to be the same. The difference is those monster calipers and discs. Not to mention the sway bars....I should have gotten them from the guy at the Junk yard as well. By going fuel cell instead of the tank like I did, would probably save a lot of time and money or be a wash between the cost of the cell and fabrication. My guess at this point would be it can all be done if paying someone else for everything for around 5+k.

Which parts? The whole project or just the rear?
QUOTE(6strngs @ Feb 21, 2007 - 7:04 AM)

I want!!! so how much has this cost you start to finish, if you don't mind me asking.

everything, the whole AWD conversion (not including 3sgte engine). Cost of parts, labor, specialty tools, custom fabrication, etc. everything needed to go from FWD to AWD.

I think he was able to get everything welded in less than a few weeks. We did much more than that. That's why it took me so long.

Well it appears I will not be able to attend ToyotaFest tomorrow with the car. Spent most of this evening trying to get the tune down to be able to drive to Toyota Fest. It was running and driving fine up until this evening. It appears that I broke three bolts off the drive shaft into the rear diff. This in turn caused several problems. It looks as though the rear drive shaft hung on with one bolt and lodged betweet the diff and the support locking up the rear. It caused me to skid to a hault. I couldn't get it removed and had to remove sections of the drive shaft to get it back home. I do not know how much more damage occurred, and will look further into it tomorrow. I was leaking tranny fluid from the transfer case, but am not sure of the reason or if the transfer case or tranny are damaged. I will keep everyone posted.

a) all celicas (st204/st206/st205/at200) share the same chassis
b) all celicas *6th gen are FWD besides the GT4
c) the rear end of an ST205/ST185 will not bolt up to any celica except for the one on which it came from originally, all others will need serious work.

so if azian is right.....your junks is too narrow. but i have all of this guys pics, I can get them up later for you.
