Hi guys,
At someone's request, I uploaded a video of my flashing brake light to YouTube. The video on YouTube As my awaful commentary notes (I was actually talking to my friend who had her foot on the brake pedal for me) I have some ideas for cooler patterns but am too lazy to program them in for now. Zac |

I'm an electronic engineer so obviously I've got a bit of an unfair advantage when it comes to that stuff ![]() The LEDs are actually hooked up to a little microcontroller so all of the patterns and times and stuff are completely programmable. The problem is that you've gotta pull the whole thing out to reprogram it which is a pain. Edit: I forgot to add; if you have any questions about playing round with LEDs feel free to PM me ![]() Zac This post has been edited by Mangozac: Mar 17, 2007 - 4:13 PM |

You should deffinately do a how-to or at least a shopping list for this mod.

I could do that but the thing is that there are 2 custom made PCBs in there, and a microcontroller that needs to be programmed. If enough people wanted I could sell them some completed units. Or even just kits with the PCBs and parts. You'd probably be looking at US$50 or so each though (no, it didn't cost me that much cause I had easy/free access to much of the parts)... |

I'm no electrical engineer but if there was a diagram that I could go by I could probably make one. The issue would be like you said the programable controller. Also I wonder if one of these could be made to control the wing taillight. Now that would be cool. This post has been edited by bindertch: Mar 19, 2007 - 8:19 PM |

Yeah the wiring isn't all that complex as it's all done in the program code ![]() You could control whatever LED setup wou want with it - although the current version only has 16 outputs. You could quite easily use a larger controller and bump it up to about 24 outputs. I was originally gonna wait and mount it in a wing with a heap more LEDs but I decided against getting a wing so just did it to go where it is now... |
