QUOTE(presure2 @ Dec 5, 2007 - 6:38 AM) to me it looks like the intake cam is retarted 1 or 2 teeth. you'll be able to tell when you turn the motor to TDC. How can you tell? Are the indentations on the cam gears no in the same position on both sides or somethin? |

wow (just read 13 pages of work) nice
anyway, your engine bay needs a tidy up..when you get the motor back in. also is it me or the light/camera but you might want to think about replacing your filter foam? But I think you need a colour scheme, blue? to go with your gauges -------------------- |

Holy Crap!!! I just started reading this thread from the beginning to the end!!! This thread gives me so much motivation to get my car running the week after xmas. That'll be the first week I have off and the first week where my car is actually by my side to work on. This project has been in progess for about 2 years now and I never got around to finishing it. Anyways, thanx for the motivation Jesse........maybe I'll do a thread like yours and update everyone on my progress.

This is exactly what I was thinking! lol but I definitely don't have enough experience to take on something as big as this. Start small I guess, right? Anyways great job on the car, keep us updated and keep up the good work! Btw, where have you been getting all your parts from?? This post has been edited by Stogbob: Dec 23, 2007 - 6:58 PM |

Update December 27th
-shoveled my way to the celica -removed gauge cluster -fitted GT4 PC board, rpm gauge and fuel/boost/eng temp gauge into USDM gauge housing with the TRD speedometer -removed some things off of the engine.. mainly the exhaust manifold w/ turbo set up here are the pics Gauges: Engine: anyone wants this its for sale The story with the gauges is as follows.. why didn't i just use the housing from the GT4 cluster? well the tabs broke off in shipping so i just transfered everything over to a USDM housing. when i say housing i am referring to the white housing that all of the guages mount into.. Well there are a few differences between the USDM one and the GT4 housing. The only difference that really needs to be altered is the screw holes.. where the boost gauge is added there are not enough holes on the back there for the screws to mount the gauges etc. so i just drilled new ones and it all lines up.. I used the PC board (more of a card) as the template to make sure they are in the right places. If anyone is wondering what i mean when i refer to PC board i am talking about the green printed circuit "card" on the back of the gauges that connects the plugs to the gauges. pic for the fun of it. |

looks like your making good progress jesse!
while the engine is out, and the turbo stuff is off, replace the hose from hell, and hose from hell on earth. (the hose going to the oil cooler from the water bypass pipe, and the one from the cooler to the waterpump. trust me, you dont wanna have to pull the turbo again just to replace a 10$ hose. if you need PT#'s, just let me know, i just did those things on jim and shannons car. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
