All i do is squeeze some on, mould it, let it sit, cut the excess around it, and then just rub my finger across the excess and it just peels off. How much did the spoiler run ya? thats exactly why i did it, plus when u push onto the bottons, the NEO its self moves a bit, and if i fiberglassed it, the glass would crack. And like i said cleanin up the excess is just giving a little slice, and peeling the excess off. and the spoiler only cost me $40 cuz i had a buddy who owd me a fav. But it was regularly $90 |

I managed to get every thing i needed to bring it back from a scrap yard for $25
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and my shops gettin pretty full and pretty messy too. ![]() ![]() my crappy makeshift welding station...consisting of my rolling stool, some crappy chair in the garage, a peice of RCA cabel to hold the piping in place, and my buddies welder. ![]() I should b finishin every thing up for the most part in the next few weeks. |

my next little project was suppost to be re-doing/dying my headliner black and adding a drain tube to my aftermarket sunroof. So i headed out to the local parts store, got me some vynal/fabric dye, and i got home and started to rip into my headliner. So i took every thing out, every thing off, and then tryed to pry my headliner down....couldnt figure out why it was stuck, So i started to peel the material back where i knew i could get a handel on it....then kept pulling..and pulling..and pulling...and i pretty much ended up with a peice of material with some foam on the back. I looked up and i see this.
![]() yeaa....so i figure that when they went to put in my sunroof, they didnt know what to do with my original headliner and didnt know how to modify the headliner to make it fit...so they hacked up the original, duct taped the original to the sunroof and any other parts they could attach it to, and then sprayed some adhesive down, put the new foam up, and put every thing back in. Extreamly hacked. So now, its up to me to fix their screw ups. So my first task is im making some templates out of some spare card board to fill in all thouse gaps and hopefully be able to line them up with the original headliner so that i can make it 1 big seamless peice when i put the new material/foam up there. I got some work done on it tonight while i was screwin around with it. ![]() ![]() ![]() so tomorrow im gonnna head over to the UPS store and get some thicker cardboard or im gonna head to the local home depot and buy some thin pressboard to make the new healiner. And then im also gonna go out and buy the new headliner material/foam. And then i also have to figure out how im gonna put a drain tube into the sunroof. Im thinkin im gonna drill a hole into the tray, weld in a peice of tubing and then put a peice of vynal tube and run it down and out under my fender. Just when i think im gonna b finished eh?? |

got the new headliner in today. It was actually pretty easy and looks amazingly good except for 1 small spot i messed up. I also died my sun visors black again. The best part is...it only cost me $30 for the material and for some good spray adhesive. And as for installing it, it was just puttin the peice in, tucking it up over the front, down the sides and rear, spraying some spray adheasive, smoothing out the sections as i go, pulling the material tight, then cutting away the excess. any ways, heres the pics.
![]() ![]() you can see the one small screw up spot on the left. and sun visor...it needs a few more coats of the dye though. ![]() the headliner is fully black, just the flash makes it gray looking. |

QUOTE(96bluevert @ Oct 17, 2007 - 12:34 AM) nice work man. why are you going back to stock again? stock is nice and subtel....im pretty much building my car up on subtelty...just really simple, clean and nice looking. To me painted red interior pieces and things that were done when i was 17, look like a 17 year old built it..lol QUOTE(kerosene @ Oct 17, 2007 - 12:43 AM) what are all those wires for under the liner? Yea, they are all the wires for my aftermarket sunroof and the plug for the switch. but since my sunroof doesnt work properly/leaks, im not gonna b using it forawhile. In the summer or spring im thinkin im gonna go out and pull up the RTV we sealed it with, make a new gasket for it and im gonna cut and weld in a drain tube so that if i do get alot of water in, it will drain out..like how an OEM sunroof works. |

I had a Pathfinder once that had an after market sunroof that leaked like CRAZY in heavy rain, which is pretty frequent during the winter here in Oregon. Luckily the glass actually had the name of the manufacturer; after months of trying to find the leak holes and sealing them w/RTV & using towels on the front seats I finally tracked down the manufacturer in Ohio, ordered a new gasket for ten bucks and voila! Problem solved! It worked like a charm and was WELL worth the minimal effort it took to replace the gasket.
Maybe you can do that too? Good luck though, I know it sucks! -------------------- ![]() |

It was installed on a hardtop model. It has a seperate switch and it pops up and back instead of sliding inside the roof. Also its ALOT bigger than an OEM sunroof. I called about 15 different companies over the last 2 years trying to find a gasket, but heres the sh*tty part...the model i have was the biggest sunroof that ASC ever made and they discontinued it in 1996, and they dont have/make any more parts for it. So i have to essentialy make my own gasket/fix the one thats in there. It sucks cuz i called dealers all around north america, manufacturers of sunroofs all across north america and some in the UK even trying to find somethin that would fix it. Nothing. So when i go to fix it, im gonna talk to some of the companies around town here and see if i can get one of them to make me a few gaskets, since my town is a big automotive town. Hopefully i can get somethin to fix it. |

yea..but thats not how this sunroof model was designed. It sucks too cuz if i have it open and spray the rear window, theres a vortex created and the water sprays back into the car. But i havent had it open for almost 2 years now...so im not really concerned about it.
