I'm doing a paper for school, and now I'm really getting into it. It's about animal rights. I'm doing my paper about hunting. I'd actually like some feedback on it to maybe give me some more ideas?

What is your stance on hunting? Do you think it's humane? Are animals more humane than humans? Animals kill other animals the same reasons humans do. I actually hope to get some feedback from those who like to hunt. Why do you hunt? For the joy of the kill, for the sport, for the food? I'm actually really interested.

I'm a southern girl, so I'm obviously for hunting. But I think slaughterhouses are inhumane. It really strikes a nerve with me how animals are practically tortured to death. I think that slaughterhouses should be regulated more.

I was watching Buster on PBS. Um, I'm a kindergarten teacher so I'm pretty much forced to watch what my kids watch. Anyway on there they had a pig on a farm that they took to a fair for a contest. They raised this pig it's whole life. After this contest, they give the pig to the slaughterhouse with no emotion at all. I don't know.. maybe I'm too attached to my pets.. but I would never raise an animal just to send it away to get killed and eaten. I understand it's common practice.. but I would just shatter me if I did that.

Well, anyway what do you think? About hunting & slaughterhouses in general?

I am for Hunting, Mass Slaughter and Hunting should never be compared. The first Conservationists in this country were all hunters. I don't have time right now to go into this, but i shall later.

I used to hunt and my Uncle used to run a slaughter house so i've seen them both.. Theres really not any comparison.. hunting is far more ethical and respectful than what goes on in slaughter houses

Population control. If we didn't do it around here, everyone would be hitting deer left and right. Besides, I'm a big fan of venison jerky.

Being from Australia, we have strict gun laws around here. That doesn't stop the farmers' culling of rabbits (or shooting kangaroos sometimes), however. And rightfully so, like vangsta said, population control. They'd wreck havoc otherwise. Personally I'm pretty apathetic to hunting, since we're pretty sheltered from such practices in the city.

I think they're both okay. Some of what happens as a part of mass slaughter I do not agree with, like the way veal cattle are raised, but in general there's nothng immoral or unethical about it. People are animals. We kill to eat. I've seen some animals really suffer from hunting from not getting hit in the vitals or what not but it's still okay. I view it as a fact of life. I do believe in eating what you kill as opposed to hunting for sport.

I am not exactly comparing the two, I am just merely agreeing with one, and disagreeing with the other.

Thank you for all of the input. I would love to see more. smile.gif

i honestly dont care either way. im not particularly opposed to hunting, but i wouldnt do it. i think its perfectly ok and natural if its regulated and tasteful. slaughterhouses are just a fact of life, we raise livestock as as a foodsource and thats the way it is. although it aint pretty, i dont believe the animals are physically tortured, maybe psychologically if thats what your trying to argue. but i dont know enough regarding actual practices to comment further.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

I think that some animals are more humane than humans. Take pigeons for an example. They only have one mate and that mate is with them untill they die and even after death they won't seek out another mate.

I would also argue that hunting is an OK sport. Would you like to be bitten by a posionous snake? I go fishing all the time and I see cotton mouths and wat not swimming in the water. I usually go for these animals with my hook and I do eventually end up catching them....and killing them.

Lets put it this way. We kill, because its fun, removes the stresses and provides an instance pleasure not similar to sex. tongue.gif

I love animals, that's why I love to eat them.

Hunt them, breed them to be killed, whatever, I will consume them.

back on topic, hunting is fine, whatever. If the animal is smart, it won't get killed.

I'm for hunting with moderation for crowd control reasons. They would probably suffer more getting hit by my car than if I shot em. Animals raised for food are fine too. How many cows or pigs would be left in the world if they did'nt taste good?
