I got the addon ignition harness so should be able to adjust the ignition.

Problem is getting it to work on 7a-fe, cause I cant find any info anywhere on 7a-fe + EM blue

I think the Blue would be enough for what I need it for. it's that or stay with the Neo. I'm not spending $500+ on an engine management system where I'll only use 25% (if that much) of the features

Emanage blue
"Basic functions will allow the tuner to slightly alter factory injector duty-cycle (± 20% at 5 preset RPM points) by intercepting and altering airflow or MAP sensor signals."

Maybe Manny can provide us more detailed info on the differences of the 2 units, but based on the above quote, the Emanage blue would be no different then using an safc. The problem with this is that those two units try to fool the air low signal thats going to the ecu. This is dangerous with bigger injectors because the factory ecu thinks you are in a different load cell and advances timing while taking out fuel.

The Emanage Ultimate (from what i understand), is different because it wires directly into your injector wiring and not the air flow sensor. This allows you to take out as much fuel as you need, without changing the load cell and advancing timing. You also get to control timing directly. This is something that is very important, but almost always over looked. The more boost you run, the more timing you should be taking out.

So if your trying to choose between the safc and the emanage blue, then just stick with the safc. But there is real benefit to getting the ultimate, and proper way to control fuel/timing is what will make or break any turbo project.

they Neo's correction map is pretty much 16x2. you can only set high and low throttle at 16 RPM points.

with the addition of the ignition harness and software, the E-manage Blue has a correction map of 16x16 as well as adjustable timing with the same size map. I haven't really looked into the cost with the additional stuff though

The problem with that is that is that is that its almost impossible to try and tune 16 throttle positions. The safc might only have 2 throttle points, but it interpolates between the high and low map so it would be easier to use. But, you would still be doing things the wrong thing by trying to fool that air low signal, instead of controlling the injectors directly like the ultimate can.

they are both still piggy-back systems. both the Ultimate and the Blue have optional injector and ignition control harnesses that connect to the ECU almost identically, the only difference is with the Ultimate you have to hook up a whole lot more wires because it has the ability to control way more things... things I don't think I need to control... not yet anyway.

here's how it breaks down in cost:
E-Manage Blue ~$265
Ignition harness ~$45
Support Tool Software ~$120

or and Ultimate that I believe comes with everything you need for something like $600-700

so with the Blue being an additional $440 I think I will try my setup with the Neo first. If I feel like I need more control, which will likely be the case, I will spend the money and get an E-Manage.

now... about oil restrictors... anybody know how to tell when they are needed? I've searched and found a lot of different opinions. some say they are only for ball bearing turbos since they don't need as much oil as journal bearings, others say with -3an line it's not needed, then people say it depends on your turbo and setup and engine oil pressure.

so I was thinking about getting an adjustable oil restrictor from stealthmodeperformance.com

any thoughts?

dont bother steff.
we KNOW the 7a's pressure is to high for the turbo, so you will definetly need a restrictor.
they make them for T series as well as the GT series turbos.
one of the things ken blake told me, is that if the car smokes when taking off after sitting at idle a minute or 2, thats a sure sign you need a restrictor.
IIRC the turbo dont want to see over 30-35psi or somthing like that of oil pressure, anyway.
i wouldnt trust something like that that is adjustable in the engine bay.

ok. I bought the one from ATP Turbo with a 0.065" opening. its 1/8" NPT male and female so it will have to go right onto my tunertoys distribution block before the oil feed line... I assume that will not be a problem.

Directly to the battery with a fuse and a relay.

it should be running any time the car is in the "on" position, steff.
i would have D run it off a relay.

buy any fitting you can fill it with weld and drill it out with a .30 bit. go larger to increase flow.
it could be ghetto, I call it being resourceful.

since you asked...

I got my blow off valve. It's a Greddy Type RS

Once I get my tax returns back I'm going to buy the rest of my parts: intercooler, water injection, all piping, couplers, clamps for intake and exhaust, spark plugs.

I want to wait until after Dustin turbos his car, it gives me an excuse to run my car stock for a little longer. My oxygen sensor crapped out almost a month ago then my alternator let go about a week ago. That was a couple hundred bucks I had to pull from the turbo fund. At this point I'm wondering what's going to let go next being that there is almost 200k on everything but the engine. I also have to send my wideband back to Innovate and who knows how long that will take.
