Heated seats, ac led bulbs, forget those anybody can do that.

I love to tease. specially where i have not seen this in a celica. May not be the first celica, who knows. But i added homelink device to my car, almost oem look, in a secret place. HAHAHA.

It all started because i moved. This house im renting only has one control, and its an old one, not ready to spend in a useless remote for somebody else, homelink is a good option. I can take it with me, never buy batteries and even leave my own memos to myself.

what do you think?

isn't that the garage door openers included in vehicles?

I'd be interested in where you got it, how you installed it. I currently have a big cell phone sized garage control on my passenger visor, but i park in the garage.

Nice! smile.gif It's definitely a nice feature to have.

I just bought a Homelink module to put in the Celica a couple days ago.

There are several ways to do this. The item can be placed in the sunvisor, or in the area above the headliner. I have a convertible so my options are limited by what pieces i can cut. My parts are limited.

I suggest get a spare part of where you want install it in case you miss the cut.

If you type in homelink in ebay it should come a lot of options. I have this little module out from sunvisors that tried to adapt. but decided later not to.

did a little work to it. like removing the speaker cover, since it will be inside the console.

next step is to carefully draw where you will cut. I chose the console since if i mess it up, i can always replace it, and its always there when i put the top down, and also its covered. As you can see the module itself is big, the only thing seen from outside is small

with a dremel tool i cut a hole, barely making my trace lines. BETTER TO CUT LESS, THAN IT IS TO HAVE A HUGE HOLE.

trial and error and trial and error with an exacto knife. Little pieces at a time until it fits.

i left some spaces on each side uncut to keep it in place. IF YOU CUT THE WHOLE THING, NOTHING WILL KEEP IT IN PLACE.

then its time to shave the cover to make it fit in a flush. this is a very delicate part, take too much off and better get another one. this part took me 1 hour. DELICATE work. be patient

until it looks like this on both sides,,

a lot of patience gives you this, a FLUSH fit..

then snap it together, and use double sided tape between the console and the black box.

WIRING: is easy, make sure you have the pigtail. it uses 12 volts.

PROGRAMMING: This unit can store up to 3 garage doors. Hold the button for 20 seconds to erase memory, once it blinks is ready to receive. Then press the button again while pressing your garage door remote to have the homelink learn the frequency.

There are newer garage door openers with security codes that change, for the instructions on how to program those to the homelink, GOOGLE, im too lazy.

Final product looks like, ENJOY

I don't think i'd want to mount it there, my center box is full of things that will push the buttons all day, lol. But you said you put it there for a reason? Sucking power off the coin light or something? (but then the lights would have to be on?)

Im gonna stop guessing now, lol.

Edit, nvm i posted after you did the how to, laugh.gif

yup, to use it the lights need to be on in my case, or you can wire it to the lighter. There are other homelink devices you may want to choose.

I put it there so i dont have to mess with my beautiful rare convertible parts. Consoles are a dime a dozen. The only thing in there is my wallet. you can also put it on the side, facing the passengers seat, same cutting technique.

Measure careful, its a tight space there

the lights having to be on might be a good thing, if you park outside. If someone were to break in and find it, it wouldnt open the door unless they could figure that out.

Im too scard to cut anything, but i think i would be interested in a smaller unit, don't care for the voice recording, perhaps one like this

Or maybe i should take a trip to the junkyard....
