im looking for a rebuild kit for the celi and im having some issues locating decent ones.



anyone have any good sites?

Toyota makes engine overhaul kits for some engines. did you try looking for one from Toyota?

If you're rebuilding the motor in your car you're probably going to want/have to strip it right down to the block and replace all the main bearings and everything. In that case the right size bearings won't come in a kit, you need to use the cylinder bore and piston sizes that are stamped on the block and order the bearings you need for that particular engine.

yeah i already have all that going for me. I have the engine pulled and in a friends garage.


This friend is a service manager at a toyota dealership so im checking through him to see about gasket kits and whatnot.


I didnt even think to look for an overhaul kit through the dealership tho, ill have to check with him on that one.


anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do while im inside? Im thinking...

-possible cylinder bore
-complete gasket replacement
-oil pump replacement (think its blown)
-send crank out to machine shop
-all new internals
-head rebuild
-change out clutch...

how the hell did you get your water pump for so cheap steff?
i bought mine through toyota and it was 256 dollars! mad.gif

thats actually a lot cheaper than i was anticipating.



do u suggest picking up all the gaskets seperately? I was thinking of just getting a gasket kit. (that was my issue, finding a good one at a good price.)



I was also playing around with new pistons, where could i pick those up?

so i stripped the block down, bearings are spun to **** sooo im looking to...

- bore .50
- os pistons
- machine the crank
- new bearings
- new oil and water pump
- new distributor
- complete gasket replacement.


theres the list.


also im thinking about new clutch, valve job, new cams...



ive located most of the parts, but im curious as to what brands i should be looking to drop in and where i can get ahold of them...


im dropping the block off @ the machine shop tomorrow to get it cleaned up and whatnot. i have a connection @ the dealership so parts shouldnt be an issue...


any other ideas?

nate, a few things.
#1, buy the gasket kit from toyota.
most aftermarket ones are junk.
#2 why .050 over?
#3 if your doing all this work, ever think about forged pistons and 3s rods?
MCS motorsports will do your WHOLE bottom end for ~2k.
cp forged pistons, 3s shotpeened rods, with the rod journals on the 5s crank machined down to fit them.
that gives you a ROCK solid bottom end to build off of, and can handle TONS of boost.
for cam companys, dustin is hitting the dyno tommorow, he got his cams from www.webcamshafts.com .
the diffrence in the way the car feels is pretty amazing.

I would LOVE to send out the bottom end and have forged internals installed! But i dont have 2k to blow on it. I plan on slowly gathering the internals in the future, but right now im just trying to get things together without going completely stock.



I am probably going to bore .050 because i was told that is what i will prob need to do to take care of the scoring in the cylinders. Ill go less if I can.



why buy the gaskets from toyota? I was told to go fel-pro... should I not?

if you're going to do all this just do it right, spend the few extra dollars and get the OEM Toyota stuff. Some things are even the same or cheaper from the dealer.

Ya! i noticed that. Makes me wonder why people will go for ****ty aftermarket stuff for the same price as dealership...



should i get the pistons from the dlr? I think i can get $68 a piece for the pistons in a .030 bore from the dlr. should i go that route? it seems this is my biggest problem, parts-wise...



I do want to do this right , I just wish i could do it all the way!



I should be dropping the block off at the machine shop tomorrow, then I will know exactly what i need.
