What i did was pull a mount off of a 7th gen, and just replaced the mount. Then the s2k antenna screwed right on, and the antenna cable plugged right in.

eh i just did it, its easier and cheaper if you just drop the s2k in the 6th gen mount instead of buying a 7th.


i just pushed the plastic piece that forces the antena up into the smaller piece and it holds a connection. it def looks sweet.

GAH! My the glue that was holding my S2k antenna in just came off. Can anyone suggest something better? I was using epoxy that was 'supposed' to work for metal.

um i was using super glue for metal and let it hold for awhile dont just shove it on then put it on the car. let the glue settle and hold strong before messing with it, i found that i put the antenna upside down in a corona bottle to hold it then glued the old antenna rod onto it and left it to sit.

How's the reception? I'm planning on doing this also. I can't stand our stock antenna.

Sev408, how does the 7th gen mount work in comparison to our 6th gen? For example, what did you do about the 6th gen motor? Does it still make that noise it made when you'd raise and lower it? Was it hard to take out the 6th gen components to replace with the 7th gen?

I'm not too good with the electrical aspect of tuning so any info would help on this.

The reception is just as good. I dont think sev replaced the mount, he just used the 6th gen. What you do is take out the entire unit, and pretty much replace it with the 7th gen. There are a few peices you still need from the 6th gen assembly, but when you have both mounts its pretty much self explanatory. The antenna plugs are the same.

alright first off let me make this clear, my AM radio reception is crap, some stations work others just dont. but i dont care i dont listen to AM

ok all i did was pop the side panel off halfway and unpluged the antena when it was up. i then cut the antenna off as close to the black plastic ring and then pluged in the antenna once it was cut off and wound the motor back down, then unplug it again.

after that i glued the s2k down into the hole and thats all. the motor when its unpluged doesnt run so there is no noise.

1. cut your antenna like you have.
2. find out what type of thread the s2k antenna is and go buy a long screw of the same.
3. thread the screw in and out of the antenna several times. This will create a thread trac for the s2k antenna.
4. take screw out.
5. screw antenna in.
6. this is the main one....Do as your parents told you. DO NOT PLAY WITH IT! It will fall off


Mine has been in there for 2 years. I have about 10% less reception but not bad at all in a city. I have never lost a antenna.

if you're gluing, use liquid nails 3 (its for metal)
I used some other epoxy first that was junk. This one seems to be holding much better

I just installed mine yesterday after I got home from work. Took me about an hour! lol I didn't want to mess any of my interior paneling and took my time taking off the components.

Oh, I used the 7th gen post and used the ornament and top nut from the 6th gen parts. Took out the whole OEM motor asm. and reconnected the wire.

My reception works great, all my stations are coming in clear just like it was with the OEM antenna.

Alright! I was seaching on how-to's for my S2K Antenna Conversion and i'm having an extremely difficult time finding information for my technically-inept mind! From what I got from this thread was that it's terribly easy, which I have yet to find out.

I have a 6th gen auto antenna w/ an s2k antenna (rubber piece)

and another piece.


From what I was told I can make the conversion with these and my current antenna parts. Any suggestions?
