Take a pic of the step you're on for us... I just did this before winter; and it was a PITA!!

This is just my rant and doesn't have any relevance to your problem, whatthe:
The 7th Gen shifter had bigger "balls" and I had to dremel them down while maintaining the roundness of them in order to fit back into the connectors. Also another thing I've noticed is that the shifter might throw shorter and feel a lot better/stiffer, but its really close to the handbrake now (in first and second gear), and is still just as "tall" as the stock shifter... has anyone chopped theirs down at all?

Anyways, whatthe; get back to me, or repost the link to the walkthrough and I'll try to help you out as best as I can. tongue.gif

yeh i got it all done, but i didnt go through with the installation the 7gen short shifter i had the 2 ball parts where the rubber balls from the stock were suppose to go to the short shifter didnt fit right. It was about 3mm too small and it was very loose. So i ended up putting everything back the way it was. Good learning experience tho, now taking it apart is a breeze

too expensive, harder to find, and virtually the same in looks and length. kinda like 404 sides and TRD sides.

I got my 7th gen shifter put in today. It works pretty nice, but like someone stated before, it's super close to the parking brake in 1st and 2nd gear. The aluminum risers helped keep it high enough above the hand brake to be usable, but it's still a PIA. Any tips?

When 6gc was down today i saw an ebay auction that was about to end. It was a Built4race 2000+ 01 02 03 Toyota Celica 5/6sp SHORT THROW SHIFTER,

I big $1 and actually won. with shipping i got it for $26!

no my problem is i hope it fits . i was gonna search on here to see if it would first but the site was down for me all day......

S#@t.. after reviewing the fine print it says:
Applications:
1991 / 1992 / 1993 / 1994 / 1995 / 1996 Mazda MX-6 all model

wow i am really confused as to what i bought now. haha im crossing my fingers its gonna fit

Hmmm... well if it is for a mazda you can get your money back, as the title stated conflicting information.

And $25 means you got ripped off. I shipped an entire shift assembly across the country for $7.

the 7th gen shifter has no issues at all, if someone gave you one and lied it was a 6th gen, you wouldn't been able to tell. When I installed mine, never saw the issues everyone was getting. its not really close as it appears to be. everything on ebay is the same product really, generic, different color, etc.
