I dont understand how taking a power saw makes things longer...

Your explanation is kinda confusing.

From what burneed said, this is what I understand

this part needs to be cut off the spare stub (inner) axle and be used as the spacer.

what tool did you use to get a clean cut?

I had a friend of mine make it for me. I have 2 of them but haven't got around to put them in yet. I had him make it just smaller than the spacer on the axle.

I don't quite understand what you mean by -the rest- of that axle. The rest is not the same diameter.
That "1.5", thats the full spacer right?
Could you be a little more thorough and maybe provide us with some picts?
Thanks

yah Ill take some pics on tuesday.... I am checking the car for any problems... which there shouldnt be but Im tripple checking it before it sells!

Yah if you look at the picture of the axle where he highlighted the 1/2" You saw off everything there after so it makes a spacer. Take longer bolts and bolt it through the axle....

Other wise you get caclank caclank and your axle pops out frown.gif

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Ok I havent been in this thread in awhile and im seeing some crazy stuff. That 1/2'' piece of metal is a lip. That lip fits onto the metal piece taht the bolts go thru to get into the inner 1/2 shaft.

What I did was I took an extra axle and took the metal piece inside and CNC machined it to be the perfect fit. This was passenger side. Now I think this needs to be done on the drivers side ALSO. I am getting noises that im thinking are from the CV turning right.

Burneed I'd like to see some detailed pics if you could, because I havent seen it done like that.

So what is the deal here.. The driver side has to be lengthen from what I hear... and maybe the passenger side?

What size spacers are needed? I am going to CNC a spacer up like what celica3sgte has.. but I need to know how thick to make them.. atleast the driver side.. so any one want to let me in on the secret please?

passenger side only.

Everyone seems to go more complicated then what I did. Buy a blown outer axle on the all-trac forum for the price of a core charge ($30 or so) and separate the outer carrier by removing the boot. Slap this on the end of you good axle with a little RTV (make sure the bearing grooves line up) and thats it. You can machine it down if its too long for you, but it was perfect size for me.

I've got around 5000 miles on mine with a few runs at the track and 250+ HP at the wheels. No problems yet.

The spacer is about 1 1/4".

I have a quick question how are you guys getting the spacer in at all. I can barely get my axle in on the passenger side not to mention the axle and the extra spacer.

are you trying to put it on with the knuckle fully installed?
you might want to try and remove the wheel knuckle install the axel, then slip the axel into the knuckle and then bolt it in that might help
