Is it possible to remove the steering wheel and align it so its straight. Mine never got aligned right when it was hooked back up, don't ask, and its driving me nuts.

same here but that was my fault (i assembled it)
you will need a puller. This is a bar or four way peice of metel that will allow screws to thread into two holes on each side of the main nut. Then a big screw is turned through the center of the four way peice of metal to push the center hub away from the steering wheel. I had to use this on my rotors as well b/c they rusted solid to my hubs.

i would say that it's better to let the pros do it...

i believe that there's more to just removing the steering wheel and moving it a notch or two in either direction... maybe the wheel aligments have to be considered too.

just my 2 cents wink.gif

No need to pay "the pros" for something that can easily be done yourself. It's a very simple job if you have the puller. If you plan on getting an alignment any time in the near future just leave it 'cause most of the time that's part of the process. Otherwise, yank that wheel off and do it yourself.

I am a pro. I think if I can do a 3s swap by myself I can handle moving my steering wheel a few notches. And yea that is all there is too it, the steering wheel is just attached to a rod with splines on both ends one end goes into the rack the other end your steering wheel. Its like if you remove your wheel it doesn't matter which lugs you put the holes in, its just a wheel.

i didnt need a puller. just remove the 19mm bolt from the center. push the wheel up with your knees while at the same time hitting the side-back of the wheel with your hands and it'll come off. or lift it with ur knees and at the same time pull real hard. be careful with your face. lol. but yeah, goodluck.

Remove the ground cable from the battery. Wait at least 90 seconds.

just pull on it, I have pulled off a few 6gc wheels, they come off wink.gif

first do the - battery cable, then take the airbag off (T25s I think), then the 19mm, then shake the sh*t out of the wheel - side to side, left right, it will come off.

When re-centering the steering wheel did you guys mind the clock spring right under the steering wheel that the air bag, the horn and the cruise control hook into? If not and it was turned too far in one direction it will break after you install the steering wheel and the first time you turn hard in that direction. Bad experience on another Toyota vehicle.
