Yeah when I said easy, I just mean't that it looked easy enough for me to do, And I have done some fibreglassing before making surfboards..

Btw, having trouble getting your pics to work now, but probably because I don't have an imagestation account?

Here are new photos of what I got done yesterday on the celi...

Got the driver sideskirt about as far done as I can until the temp raises some and I can start fiberglassing, put small screws in it to hold the skirt so no more clamps smile.gif

Am going to start on the passanger side next weekend.. hopefully I can get that one to the same level as the driverside in just a day now that I know exactly what has to be done. Once both the sides are positioned then I can start workin on the front biggrin.gif <-----CAN'T WAIT biggrin.gif

Put one of my new seats in the car yesterday.... and I don't like it at all frown.gif But think one of my buddies is gonna pick them up them from me so thats cool... there a pic of it below.

Also did a little work on the rear... kinda just mounted it with clamps, sticks. etc to get kind of an idea - gonna play around with photoshop a little this week and if I come up with something good I will post it.

Newayz.. on with the pics

not really nediffernt but the side without the clamps

Part of the area I will need to fiberglass in... I will fill this with clay leavin it about 1/8 and inch too low and then fiberglass it in

Ugly seat

Rear shot... I will prolly only end up using about half of this.. right now it looks really big and sticks out too far but you kinda get an idea of what it will look like

yea noticed that... don't know what the problem is frown.gif

edit: well I removed some photos from earlier posts and that seems to help.. maybe there is a limit or something... or imagestation is just that bad... who knows.

If you have a post in this topic with a quote with pics in it and you get a change please edit them out to save on space.. not sure if it actually works or not but did notice a difference when I did it with some photos - Thanks smile.gif

Edit x2: well checked with imagestation and there currently down.. did notice that they recently changed a few things so maybe they messed up and are resetting it or something.. who knows confused.gif

Hey, this has been stated way back in the conv. but I guess I don't see where the big prob with the supra light conv. is... I mean all you have to do is find out where to hold the light onto the frame, cut a hood out and just use your supra body kit, right? if not that, then what else??? rolleyes.gif

Its not an issue of how hard it will be... its more an issue of it lookin like a$$ or not.. if I do the supra headlights.. (which I would like to do) The front end is gonna look like crap unless I make the front taller, which I don't want to do.

I want a real boxy look which I wont get if I do the supra head lights.. It will be more of a tappered off front which is not going to fly with me.. I want every thing to come to the same height all the way around with in an inch.

also I don't want to modify the hood drastically which I would have to do.. If I ever have to part out the car, no one is gonna buy a GT4 hood modified for supra headlights

as for doing the conversion... yea it would be really easy to do.. just get the crossbar under the hood out of a supra where the headlights mount and weld it in and make the approriate cuts and mount up the kit and smooth everything out.. wouldn't take too long but it will go against the overall look I want and the Celica headlights are just fine with me smile.gif

confused.gif Aight, I know I should prob stop where i am and start a new discussion, but the real person I want to ask is you neverstop, b/c you just seem experienced in this field, I would like to try and do a supra conversion (no matter how much people will think it looks like crap and goes against the celica look) and I was wondering if I bought the front end strut to put the lights on, the necessary light, a supra hood, and a supra bumper, if it would be "easy" enough where I can do the work myself and not send it to a shop... I know how to weld, I can def. learn how to cut a hood (if I have to), and I can line a bumper up and make custom holes... will it be possible if I just buy a supra hood, if it will fit the car and bumper? I have about 1,200 to work with on cash and I would like to make this my own project

pbgcelica - I think that it is a good idea that you want to try and do a supra front end conversion, and good luck to you if you try but there are a few things I would like to point out to you.

The 1st problem you will have is trying to do this with only 1200$. I'm not saying that it can't be done for that price.. It can, but you might suffer a little on quality, and I would strongly recommend having a body shop do this for you if you don't have alot of experince with doing stuff like this.

The 2nd problem you will have is the hood, It is going to very hard and expensive to make the supra hood work on the celica. To do this correctly you will need the supra sideskirts... which brings us to problem number 3

#3... The distance between the back of the fender (where it meets the front of the door) and to the center of the wheel is quite a bit bigger than the same distance on the celica... what that means is you can't just put the fenders on the celica and have them line up (wheel is in the wrong place).. you will need to get fiberglass fenders and trim off at least 4-6 inches... that also means that the hood will need to be trimmed the same amount, which will be EXTREMLY hard to do.. even for a good body shop.

as you can see the supra front is going to be very expensive to pull off, not to mention almost impossible to do and have everything functional and look good.

so here are your alternatives:

1 - Get the whole supra front end and trim the fenders and hood down to allow the wheels to be in the correct place (keep in mind that this still might not fit). Take all these parts and graft them into one big piece... bassically a removeable front clip.

The prob with this is there is no garuntee that it will fit correctly and it will be a very heavy piece to remove to work on the motor, and it might not look very good or kinda funny at best.

2 - Get just the supra front bumper, headlights and support bar to mount the headlights on. This is going to be the easier of the two idea... it means dropping the supra hood idea... you could possible trim the sides of the supra hood to make it fit but I really dont think it would look good or match the body lines.

The prob with this idea is the same reason that I am not doing this to my car... for one I dont want to modify my hood... cutting it doesn't bug me but I dont want to try and flatten out the bulges from the celica headlights... you could make eyebrows and fiberglass on them to make the bulges smooth out a little down onto the headlights but that kinda defeats the purpose of doing the conversion. The second prob is how the front end will look... basically with the supra front it will look alot like a car with a full kit minus the front... which looks goofy.. if you think a car with just a front airdam looks bad try and image what it would look like the other way around biggrin.gif

You will also have to cut the fenders some.. I would recomnd getting fiberglass ones for the celica.

I will say I have seen the supra headlight conversion done before and it doesn't look the best.. I really believe that I could prolly do better than what I have seen but really don't think its worth it.

If you still want to do this I will help you... no I wont do it for you but I will point you in the right direction, but I spent well over a month debating weither or not to do this to my car.. calculated cost and weighed every little issue, pro, con etc and desided it would not be benifical to do this.. both in look, performance and money.. If I where you I would spend the money on projectors and be done with it.

But I wish the best of luck to you on this if you still want to try to pull it off and like I said above will help you out on it.

On another subject here is a photoshop image of one idea for the rear of the celica.. keep in mind that it is kinda ruff but you get the general idea.. please post opinions on what you guys think.. if you have a better idea feel free to photo shop your own things or just explain in your post.

well nevermind.. right after I uploaded the photo onto imagestation it shut down so they could fix it.. im gonna load in into my profile and the post it here.

thanks wink.gif

Well specifically Im not feeling the spoiler if you can sall it that tongue.gif The car will have a sporty supra look to it, maybe a wing like this:

http://www.6gc.net/index.php?action=parts&itu=43

or even wingless which always looks sleek, but its up too you, thats my thoughts on it.

I actually agree with that on the spoiler but it was an aniversary gift from my G/F so its kinda gotta stay frown.gif ... otherwise it would be spoilerless wink.gif

edit: I have given some thought to pickin up a two more trunk lids and leave one spoilerless and then get a differnt spoiler setup strictly for downforce for the track.. that way I got 3 different looks to interchage but who knows thats alot of cash to drop for something I don't really need to do wink.gif

the cold don't bug me too bad.. my G/F got me some warm a$$ carharts so they keep me nice and toasty all day long in the cold but it sucks at the same time cuz I can't do really ne major fiberglass right now untill it warms up some.

I wont paint it myself, prolly have a shop do it.. got a buddy that owns his own place so he's prolly the one to do it for me.
