you can always just paint it, whatever color just get that paint, even if you want chrome just make sure you do a good clearcoat on it

i want to paint mine a silver in the future but can't figure out (for the life of me) how do you get the passenger side vent out? the others seem to pop out fairly easily but not that one. i read somewhere that it really easy to snap some type of clip when doing it and i want to avoid that if possible. maybe someone should put this in the how to's

That one is a hard one, and a lot of people have broken a tab that holds it in place.... I tried it, but was affraid of breaking it, so I stopped....

Patience and minimal force are 2 things I have a problem with...

i used krylon for plastics from walmart and mine turned out pretty nice, and i wouldnt recommend painting in the car, the fumes will linger for a long time and you will get over spray on everything, plus its best to have it laying flat so you dont see runs on the front of it, its not too hard to take out except for the passenger vent, but it doesnt take too long to get them out and the paint and clear coat will dry in about an hour so it wont take too long either. make sure when your done you post pics so we can see it smile.gif

ok so what tactics should i use to get it out? just pull like a mo fo til it just pops out perhaps breaking the tab and everything? or is there a better way? also after spraying even with the krylon fusion stuff should i still clear coat it? and about how many coats of paint should i do? just what it says on the can?

i believe the tabs were on the bottom so just pull/pry from the top...slowly...and just work it out. if you break off a tab its no biggy the vent will still go back in place just fine.

yeah, the best thing to do is to get something and pry it out, i used a flat head screw driver and once i had it started i just pryed it the rest of the way out, and i would do 2 or 3 thin layers of paint and then 3 or 4 good layers of clear coat so you know its not coming off.

to get the passenger vent out, you must be really carefull. Once you take the glove compartment, you can have acess from below. These litte tabs look like a "U", but they are flexible, with a small scredriver, you can ben them, and once "_____" shape not "U" shape, you can take it out. I recently had to fiddle with it, cause i hand washed all my trim, too much dust and also i had the original wooded grain that was all craked up. I put my pieces in the sun to soften the grain, took it oof and used goo gone to remove the glue. Just trying to help....
