Kick ASS. I found it and its not far away from me. Price is few grand below the PRIVATE party Kelly blue book value. Amazing. Seller says in the description that they'd be happy to email certified carfax report. I'm asking for the email now, and If that all goes well I think I got a new car folks.

This may happen soon..... I can see a few of you logged on Please help. What did you check when you got your 6gc? If the report goes good, I'm going to go there and test drive it. I'll probably bring my dad and his friends but they're not mechanics. I need to know specific problems that usually happen to 6gcs. Any horror stories, anything will be helpful.

Wow I feel giddy. I'm even listening to sad music and I still feel adrenaline.

If it's a manual, make sure all the gears engage smoothly. The synchros go bad too easily in Toyota gearboxes.
Look at the welds on the sides of the strut towers in the engine bay(don't know about anyone else, but mine was starting to crack).
Since it's a convertible, make sure it still goes up and down properly(do it twice, make sure it doesn't 'stumble' trying to go up and down).
Make sure the timing belt was changed at the last 60k interval.

That's all I can think of right now.

I got the whole carfax report
Test drove it for a while
Made sure it handled well
Went over everything in the engine bay... liquids included
Inspected for damage and asked about any scratches dents etc.
Carfax is a life saver by the way! Course I bought my car from a dealership so there wasnt much to worry about but just check it inside and out.

inspect that engine, and take it for a test drive, no music, listen for sounds. well, make sure the audio works, but listen to your engine and suspension and brakes and stuff. check the liquids, ask if it's been in an accident (you have a carfax. If it has make them show you where and ask what was done). If you end up getting the car make sure you get ALL documents from them (titles, purchases, tune ups, repairs, fluid changes, brake/tire services). make sure it shifts well. if it's an auto make sure every gear works and that it has good tranny fluid...make sure it doens't hesitate either, mine did when i got it.

Something I haven't heard that I read as a sort of 'common sense' guide thing.

Check for liquids and smells. Basically, smell your car, make sure nothing smells waaay out of the ordinary in any particular place, and make sure there's no water on the carpeting in the trunk, floor, anywhere.. because that could mean a leak.

AND WE WANT PICTURES DAMMIT! biggrin.gif

Interior
Top Down
Top up

I think it looks like its been well taken care of. I don't even see how it needs a new paint job.
Gotta check the convert top, how much do those motors cost? Man I'm falling in love.

looks nice, needs to be lowered... an that wood trim, kinda cool... kinda cheap, but kinda cool.... I would say def check the oil, and look underneth to see if its leaking any.. like any major oil patchs on the bottom of the engine...

make sure to note the syncros when shifting. if anythign grinds or gives you any trouble out of the ordinary, turn the car off and walk away, the only real trouble ive ever heard consistantly is syncro grinding.

if you dont know FF you should do some more research before expecting to do a motor swap... FF is the drivetrain layout, Front engine FWD.

I just didn't know the abbreviation. I would love to research yet I find no info specifically for the 3sge swap. Plenty for the 3sgte though. I don't even know if I should get a clip or not. The only thing i've really read is that the wiring is just as hard as 3sgte.

Anyone got any info?
