What up all. Weird noises from my celica. Everytime I try to put this badboy in reverse today, the damn clutch just made that awful grinding noise. As if something was spinning and I was trying to stop it by putting a pole in the middle. But seriously, I put my car in reverse and for one, it was hard, I actually had to push it in harder than I should and do it quick. It doesn't do it for first-fifth, so what's going on? ANy takers? Also, it's getting a little harder to put my car in first gear and second gear and actually, any gear. This could just be my imagination, but it just seems that way. Anyone have this problem or know what's going on?

hmm, if that is the case, would you know how to fix it? Because I'm not even rolling and it's doing it. I mean, I got in my car today, and it was fine, had to use reverse a few time and like the first three nothing happened, and it was all good. But then it started up again. It just sucks and hurts my ears (and is a lil embarrasing). haha. biggrin.gif

it could be the synchros like they sare saying, but if im not completely stopped when i try and put my car in reverse it grinds. so try it at a complete stop, and if its hard to get it, then put it into 3rd and then over into reverse. there is a shift lock from 5th to reverse so if ur cruisin at like 80 mph u dont bump it into reverse biggrin.gif

There are no synchros in reverse. You have to be stopped to get into reverse without a speed mismatch in the tranny (grinding).

but I'm not moving when this happens. I'll just be in my car and have just gotten in it, not going anywhere, and it still grinds.

Is your car warmed up when this happens? In my car, if the car is idling at 1,200 RPM or so when the car is warming up, I grind more often going into reverse.

damnit, if that's the case, that really sucks. I just had my clutch replaced about two years ago, maybe less. Hopefully it was less though, because if I need a new one, they need to be under warrantee. It just started grinding a lil bit going into 3rd to. And it's still hard to shift, but on and off. Like it'll be hard for a while, and then for a bit it becomes easy, and then it's hard as hell. And as far as my car being warmed up, no, it isn't usually, but for instance, when it is and I drive to class and put it in reverse to parallel park, it'll still do it, w/o me moving anywhere. It's an awful noise. Sometimes it gives me a break, but it grinds more often than not. Well thanks for the input guys, I'm gonna be takin' it to clutch doctors over spring break, so we'll soon see. For you guys having some similar problems, I'll tell you what the clutch doctor guys tell me, see if that can't help you out some.
