1399$ is definatly cheaper than a swap.....how much would a shop charge to install all that stuff?

It's pre-set for an n/a build... but change the pistons and you got yourself a turbo prepped block... however... it's still just a re-built 5SFE block with some upgraded pistons/rods. You can get a rebuilt engine probably cheaper than that... or even better, do it yourself and learn a bit about things yourself. Knowledge is power ya know...

What do I think? I think its a good find with some serious potential. I would sooner go ths route than a swap....throw on a better fuel pump, larger injectors, a FPR, clutch, HKS ignition, etc. and you could either have a killer N/A 5S-FE engine, or throw in a RIPP supercharger or turbo and be cranking out big horses at about the cost of a good swap.
This presents a great option for a well tuned engine for a variety of purposes at a pretty fair price, in my opinion. Pretty cool. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

the 5s-fe is like 18 hours of labor, for a rebuild. My mechanic charges $75 an hour, so 18x75=$1350
also, the $1399 dosnt include shipping, and I think you have to pay a core charge which means you have to send them all your old parts to get the core charge refunded, which means more shipping... This post has been edited by Chrobis: Mar 13, 2004 - 1:47 PM |

Knowledge is power yes, but what you are forgetting is that this type of knowledge can be costly... |
