Something else that I don't think has been mentioned is the slightly re-designed front bumper of the 96-99 models which is a different style to the earlier 94-95. (look at members pics and the gallery)
Also, the 96-99 bumpers are the only ones that have clear indicators, not a major issue but it might make the difference. 'Proper' clear indicators are not yet available for the 94-95. But like others have said whichever year, try and get the better GT. -------------------- Facelift bumper-foglights-clear indicators, clear side repeaters, 16in O.Z alloys, stainless steel grill. JDM facelift tail lights. clear sidelights. Retro-fit A/C conversion. APEX performance springs. Remus exhaust. K&N performance filter. KYB excel G shocks.
Hyundai coupe Mk 3 (US Tiburon) leather seats. Gen 7 s/wheel. SR black vinyl door cards. Late spec spoiler-less tailgate with 3rd brake light. |

Some features that I like for the different years.
94-95: I like the stock 2 point rear wing over the 3-point style. 96-99: new front bumper style w/ clear bumper lights w/ factory foglights. Some have factory side skirts. 99: 3 point stearing wheel ! |

Yep...I love my steering wheel, i'd get a 99 if I were you......you know that eventually you will sell it, and if you take care of it you'll probably get a bit more money for the latest year. |

fyi the 98's also came with the 3 point steering wheel
honestly I don't see much point in buying a newer more expensive car if you are planning to modify it. buy a 94 in good shape and use the money you saved for a 3SGTE, custom interior, bodykit, paintjob, etc... |

94 all the way......
![]() Not just because i own one, but i like the way they look with the smiling front lip and the 2 point spoiler, and i got mine cheap($3200), so that gives me lots of room to mod, like you guys said. Besides, the 94 started the 6th gen. legend anyway. ![]() -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

'99, but I'm biased of course. Actually all the 6g's have sporty bods.

I don't plan on modding it. It would be a daily driver to replace my aging Escort GT. I might do some mods, but changing the engine wouldn't be one of them. |

[sarcasm]
You guys really don't know this, but 1997 ST's have 160HP. They are the special hybrid secret line of models made by Toyota that year. [/sarcasm] [reality] 1997 ST's are the best. [/reality] gg GT's. |
