I'm planning on putting a turbo into my 94 GT - and im thinking CT-26 outta a supra and maybe if i can fit the intercooler, that too. Plus high compression pistons, new (possibly kevlar) clutch, but I think im missing something...keep in mind im not set on this CT-26, but the kit from Buillen or whatever boosts about 45hp pushin 5psi, not too much considering its 2500 dollars. Ne body ?

Please check out my post at http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=662 TurboCharger project from scrap for Do-IT-Yourself
Please read the whole post. Also, please do some reading on tunign and so on. 1) Your compression pistons would be adequate for turbo. High compress. pistons are good for NA. Even then, your head is not geared towards performance, so you might have some detonation going to 11:1 and above. You normally use low compress pistions 8.0+:1 and up on turbocharge engines. The CT26 is good. remember that the supra is twin turbo's, implying small turbos to start with. That is why you have the same turbo in the GTFours. Twin turbos almost mean HP= Nx(turbos power @ 80% efficiency) where N is the number of turbos. eg. I am not sure on the power out put on this turbo. But here goes. The CT26 is capable of 300HP at and unreliable state. So let say 80% of its efficiency is 280HP. That means that in twin turbo applications, like in the supra or any car that uses a similar turbo and where are the condition are met, the total engine output limited by the turbos in this case (supra) maybe 480 -520HP on these stock turbo. Again, I am estimating here, knowing nothing on supra power capabilities on these turbos. You will need some piggy back components like Apexi SAFC and so on. Again, read my post for such details. You can do alot more HP with that turbo. If not get the turbo specify on my post. The only problem is the engine beign able to handle it. Good luck and I look forward to see what others have to say who have been running turbo celicas above rated stock output. actually, if you think about it, the burien kit is worth the 2500 asking price. the parts are not that much if bought seperately, but when you add in shipping, and all that, and all the trouble of actually sourcing all of the same parts, it's really worth the price. also, the 5psi is enough, and the 45hp is to the WHEELS. which is very good. the boost could easily be turned up w/ more mods to the engine and exhaust system, and get you even more power. also, the addition of an intercooler (another 400ish dollars) and you'll get even yet, MORE power. also think about how much the turbo kits for the civics and integras and all are. they are about 3.5 - 4k dollars. if i had a GT, i'd get the burien kit, just for the ease of it, and tack on an aftermarket intercooler...why go to the trouble of sourcing all of the parts just to end up w/ the same thing you coulda bought all as one package?

True!
If you can get the kit, whatever it is made up of, get it. It will be cheaper and easier instead of source parts like what John said. Also remember the engine when wanting too much power from the engine unless pistons, crank and so on comes with the kits. Also, keep an eye on the A/F gauges and engine temperature. -------------------- West_Minist

Fallen, you took the words... I don't think I would trust all of those parts unless you have the hook-up through a junk yard or a mechanic.

91mr2t down pipe 40$ 91mr2t turbo wlbow 20$ 6 mk1v 2jzge injectors 40$ 2 mk111 7mge injectors (6 more pending from nuke) 40$+60$ 3sgte MAP sensor (supra one will not work) 50$ supra tt fuel pump 50$ greddy type s BOV with a weldable flange $200+$38 for the flange Metal head gasket 30$ All I realy need is a twin entry ct-26 and intake pipeing and thats about what you will get with burien. I am getting however a Fmic, boost controler, boost gauge, oil pressure gauge and AF gauge. Thats where the $ goes. Look on the mr2 and the all trac boards and you can get good deals. Hope that helped. BTW when I get nukes injectors I will have 4 for sale if anyone wants them $50 shipped. -Bryan- -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe

So - i pay 2500 and buy the burien which gets me all the parts i need except the intercooler, which isnt a necessity, or i can search around and get other parts, used, which arent guaranteed to work properly, but could possibly be more powerful and cheaper, but could also destroy my engine, yeah so im still back to where i was before, undecided.
So help me out with this, stock 5S-FE runs 133hp - i got an intake and a Y-piped dual Focuz 4'' muffler exhaust with GReddy catback, and lets add the burien turbo kit - we're lookin at how much HP - and how much strain on my engine? |

Thanks. What it is, is i have been slowly looking for and buying the parts for the past 8 months or so. I am not planning on installing anything until june or so so I have plenty of time to get the easy stuff later. My suggestion is if you have the time sorce the parts your self. Its a good experience and it gives you time to clear your mind and do it right the first time. You should also read up on any of nukes or squalls posts in the FI forum at celica.net (good stuff), also go to the mr2 board and in the NA forum read any of itzits stuff. He has a good write up on the entire install. -Bryan- -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe
