well I have a 97 and umm I use my diagnostic tool, its a stripped wire biggrin.gif You need to use one of the smaller paperclips, big ones dont fit to well.

as far as I know there would be no reason for them to change the diagnostic port...

i thought that obd1 was in 94-95 in which you need a jumper (aka paperclip) to get the code and a 96-99 was obd2 where you can use the little thing you plug in and it tells you.

Yes you insert the paper clip into 2 slots and then a magical reaction ocurs and your engine, with a strong deap voice, tells you any problems it is having rolleyes.gif

Check out the how to section like mac said, and OBD and OBDII are smog systems, not diagnostic systems. Why would this have anything to do with the Diagnostic port.

On Board Diagnostics(OBD) is not a smog system. That's the EGR and cat. converter.

buy a haynes manual. they will tell you what pins to jump on the diagnostics plug

if you just want to turn the CEL off, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes
