well, with my engine work being done, its time to think about my suspension. whats out there that will do me justice, i wanna lower my car, get some shock absorbers, and whatever else there is to get. wats involved in suspension, what parts are there to get? for those of you that bought strut bars from DG_Performance , how are those?

what hight is best for a car with a 3sgte in it? the engine is way heavier than stock? should i get different hight springs to compinsate for heavier engine infront, because i dont have a box in the back to balance it out. what drop should i get? i want performance , not look, i dont want any inconvinences.

Just get a FULL coil over kit. They will usually come with everything and you can basically adjust anything to the height to the dampners. Tanabe, Tein, or JIC are good. JIC has the optional in car electric control that can adjust stuff from the inside.

The 3SGTE may be heavier than a ST engine but I am not sure.

You want "performance" for suspension, then just go full coil over kit. Thats performance rather than just getting shocks or springs.

I like DG stuff. Haven't put them on yet but quality seems good.

Its actually really hard to compensate for a heavy engine in the front. You have to do a lot of stuff, but usually when GT4's wanted to compensate for a FF chassis they did a lot of weight reduction in the front and modified the AWD so it could be 50/50.

The problem with the FF is that the tranny and engine are in the front causing a massive amount of weight in the front. With the Light chassis of the celica the, rear was pretty damn light compared to the front. Suspension won't fix all of it but it will be better.

Hopefully that helped a little.

you might want to try getting some lowering springs for a 5gc.. since it is around 300lb mover the then 6gc.. one some tower bar from DG.. and redo all your suspension bushings..

and don't forget about your brakes.. more engine power means you'll need more stoppin power..

Nice car:)
About the suspension kit i dont know exactly the model that match to yours but i have seen a lot of celicas here at my country using TRD,i spoke with them and they are very happy with it (TRD full adjustable kit),from my own experience on my previous car i was using CUSCO,but it doesnt matter cuz was a scooby but we are talking about suspension here so choose one from the follow i think:

TRD
CUSCO
TEIN
JIC
C-ONE

Good luck with it:)

And something alse, you should first upgrade your Brakes so try to find a nice brake kit for the monster:)

hmm, doesnt a real coilover kit cost like 1500+ ?thats out of my budget... i dont speed much anymore, so iam more worried about wheel hop than braking... plus i have an idea what to do for brakes, iam just trying to figure out suspension. can anyone with a swap and aftermarket suspension tell me how thier car runs now? do you still get wheel hop?

so far i got: possibly 5gc suspension, or TRD Setup..redo all my suspension bushings.

HOW ARE THE: Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs ? ,

Mina

I have heard no complaints from anyone using a combo. of eibach springs with koni yellows.

As far as other suspension mods go it's really up to you and what you are trying to do (less body roll, firmness, ride quality).

Beyond springs and struts you can go with Front and Rear strut braces, sway bars, side tower braces. It's up to you. I can't vouch for anything besides eibach springs and koni yellows because my suspension is still in progress, but I would also like to hear from some of the people with DG braces
