Well...Its been a little longer than expected to start my celica project but now I finally have the money to get going again...I just purchased a full veilside kit...WRX style hood scoop...NSX style vents to be molded in with the sideskirts and some items I will need to finish my electron blue/3000gt pearl white interior...So I need some info...First of all...I have no experience with body kits and I can use all and any advice or heads up I should know while going through this process...I also really want to do a 98-01 solara coupe taillight coversion...I would like to know some people's opinions on how they think that would look on my hatchback...I plan to paint the exterior Lexus Graphite grey pearl to give it a gunmetal finish...I was thinking of going with some carbon fiber accents but my friend said that it may not go with my car such as the wing insert, taillights and hood....SO PLEASE...give me some feedback...Personal paint preferences on my setup?...Tech tips?...interesting ideas...anything that can help my "project celica"...Thanks Rob

before you had bought the scoop you might have wanted to look at a couple GT4s to decide if you liked that more.
that would have been easier to get...

anyways, i would suggest building on top of the body or adding a fender flare to the rear for that scoop...IMO i think it might look too flat, but iunno...

Tachoir does some pretty good paint, but they stay away from most aftermarket...

Day Toyota Collision Center is supposed to do amazing work, but they are expensive.

If you could get a good body shop to pull off the tailight conversion it would be wicked. I dont think the lines are right as far as the way the sheet metal is angled. Look at sexyasiandolls tailight conversion. She used aftermarket preludes which look close to shape. The good part is that theres a number of lights for these cars(prelude). As far as bodywork goes, I have sdaid this many times on this forum. The best tape(vhs) for bodywork is by a company thats called Z therapy. Its awesome, he covers paint, bodywork, molding, heat warping, etc.

Well I had originally planned on just molding the scoop in but I think Im gonna go with the C-one CF hood...along with the CF piece that fits between the TRD replica wing...I am torn on whether the CF would go better with a metallic gunmetal looking paint...Or possibly go with the lighter RSX blue or shade similar...I have the invader kit...Tell me what you guys think...I really do NEED INPUT!!

I'd go with the gunmetal color if it were me...it's not too bright which is nice, and I think it looks really good.

As far as the kit, I'd say keep that C-One replica hood carbon fiber and get the carbon fiber insert on the TRD replica wing.

I actually don't think that the Solara tail-lights would look too great(plus that'd be a really hard conversion), but that's just me. I drive by a wrecked Solara every day on the way from my house to town and I think about that tail-light conversion every time, but I just don't think it would work too well with the lines of our cars. Unless you're intent on a tail-light conversion, I'd just buy some JDM '96+ tail-lights with the clear turn signal. smile.gif

Check out mikedodson's car when you get a chance...he's got a gunmetal-ish color with a carbon fiber hood and I think it looks excellent. biggrin.gif
