well, i tapped my oil pan about a week ago and it was working fine. but after few days, i saw very small leak, very minor. but tonight, when i was driving i smelled an awful smell. when i got home, i popped the hood and found out my engine bay was covered in oil.

my freaking barb in the oil pan came out! the nut was tight on the other side so i dont know how it got loose. i was running around trying to figure out a way to patch up until i get it fixed. i patched it with jb weld and a penny. i hope it will hold up until i get time to get underneath it to put tap back in. last time i just used gasket sealer to seal it but next time, im going to jb weld it or actually take oil pan off and get it welded on (going to try jb weld first due to less troublesome) i had to take off crossmember and tranny heat shield to get oil pan out, i dont feel like doing that again

but word of advice, dont tap your oil pan and depend on a nut to hold it in. i learned the hard way.

or dont tap it at all. use the dipstick tube. it goes to the same place. ive been running 5-10 (change for application) psi for like 20,000 miles now and it hasnt given me a problem.

idk if that is such a good idea, unless u chop down the tube so that is below the level of the turbo.

i drilled and tapped my oil pan and put a nut with a rubber washer on it and it held fine with no problems.

and its still holding fine on forkees car

if you dont do it right, then it will fall apart and ruin your oil pan, which toyota wants $300 for a replacement, and junk yards want $100

3sgte pan will not work for you

there is a flat place above the drain plug that is vertical when the pan is on the engine.

get either a 3/4 or 5/8 size barbed fitting(i got mine from OSH, and they had matching nuts with rubber washers in the same isle) and get the appropriate tap and drill.

drill in that flat spot, as high up as possible, then use the tap and carefully tap the pan

it is thin metal, and it is easy to mess up, so take your time and make sure that you go at it straight.

after taping slowly screw the fitting into the pan and then use the nut and rubber washer. be careful to not strip anything.

after that, it should be good, it was for me, if you want more insurance, put JB weld around the threads before you screw it in and then the screw on the nut and rubber washer

it wont leak and it wont go anywhere
