I'm planning to add a body kit to my car but I don't want to be shovelling the snow in the winter. Currently I have ground control coilovers and I have Koni Yellows on. Anybody has a body kit on their Celica that drives in a city with snow like TORONTO CANADA?
How much clearance do you guys have in the front or I should have? http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/celica1/.../t20ere404a.jpg |

just do it bolt on that way you can take it on and off with the weather. do it like that till you get a winter car.

What do you mean by that? I will be having the body shop installing it so I would have no clue how it is going on. Do they use glue or screws? What is used to hold the kit anyways? I won't be able to afford a winter car since insurance on two cars is gonna kill me. |

you have 2 choices, mold the kit on, or bolt it up. if they mold it, they take fiberglass and fill the edges so it has a very smooth transition from the kit to the rest of the car, looks VERY nice. the other option is to have it bolted up, this is how all the stock fascias are mounted, using screws bolts and fasteners, it isnt a big deal to do it this way, it turns out looking fine, and its removable so you can put your stock stuff back on in the winter.

also what you can do if you are worried about ins. on 2 cars, dont insure the winter car in the summer months, just make sure you dont drive it. then in the winter take the INS. off the celica and put INS on the winter car, that just means no driving the celica for the winter, if you just go and do this w/o setting up a plan with the INS co. then theyll screw you by changing the rates every time you go to change cars, but if you setup a plan, they tend to be a little nicer, just all depends what company you go through.

i learn from my dad and his friends lol, he does that with his stang and firebird, but he keeps the winter cars insured year round if i need to borrow the truck for some odd reason...
like i said though, if you dont talk to your ins company about setting up something like this, they'll give it to you up the rear by changing your rates everytime you go to put on and take off your coverage. -------------------- Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... Another issue would be I don't own or have a secound car which sucks. But I must say that would be a good idea if I had another car. I'm not sure how low my car is right now but I only have room for about 1 finger gap. If I do get that lip kit will I have atleast 3" of clearence in the front?
Wait I will measure my current clearence and you guys could maybe tell me how much of a clearance I would have after I get the kit. For the people who doesn't know what kit I'm talking about please see the link in my frist post. BRB |

just make life easy and tell the shop you want the kit bolted on, NOT molded. and when you get the car back, ask them if they could go over where they have the mounting points so in the fall when the weather is getting bad again you can take it off and put your stock one back on yourself.
