So I have a Blaupunkt Amplifier bridged to power a single 10" Polk MOMO subwoofer, and I've noticed that for a bridged-power RMS rating of around 380 watts, it just doesnt seem all that loud.
I'm pretty sure that its a power problem of some kind, because I'm supplying the amp with my headunits full 6 volt output power, and everything is EQ'd perfectly and installed poperly....Its just that the amp output tends to vary quite a bit from time to time, so it will be nice and powerful one minute, then not nearly as powerful as it should be the next. Could it be a low battery voltage, bad RCA signal...?? Just tell me if any of you have had the same problem before ,because its been like this on and off for a while now. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

The woofer has plenty of headroom....it will sound powerful one minute, then the volume will drop off considerably even when I go back to the same point in the same song for reference. Or sometimes on e day the bass will be nice and strong then the next day its noticably weaker (other people have noticed this, so its not just me. )
I just hear guys saying that they have 200 watt amps that hit really hard and my amp is rated at like 380 watts x 1 bridged RMS @ 4ohms.....so I dunno. Im kinda leaning toward my battery being a little old and not supplying enough voltage. I just wanted to see if anybody else experienced a problem where their amp was kinda weak and then replaced their battery with a Optima or something with a better voltage output and experienced a more powerful, consistant sound. take an ohm meter to it and see wht the voltage is, it shoould be bout 14.4
then u might wanna try a capacitor (1 farad should be good). wht AWG wire are u running? power and ground check ur ground connection, make sure u scratch off ne paint on the surface ur grounding it on. |

My ground is excellent...I shortened the ground wire by some 2 feet last year and its bolted down to bare chassis that I wire brushed clean. I'm running 8 gauge wiring too with an upgraded fuse setup, so that shouldnt be and issue.
Thats a good idea checking the voltage....My car doesnt start up as quick as it used to either, so Im suspecting its the battery. I'll test mine and try using the battery from my dads truck and see if its any better with a fresh battery. Thanks. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

Yeah I'd get a new battery, I noticed huge improvements last battery swap. Also the heavy gauge fuses sold in lots of amp wiring kits are kind of dodgy, check the inside of the fuse where the actual fuse joins the endplates, it could be giving you a fluctuating connection. A cheap multimeter will fix all your problems

try scraping any rust off the ground of the batter, not the part that touches the battery but the other end of the black wire that touches the car. for some reasen a bad ground really messses with stuff. my brother had a bad ground and it made hellla weird problems for a while.

1) the amp does not get loud, the speaker does.... it could be that u are underpowering the speaker, or the speaker itself... enclosure...
2) the amp could be crapping out... if you say sometimess its strong, and other times no, your electrical system might not be able to handle even the smallest load... do your lights dim really bad at night when bass plays? 3) try with a diff amp... swap with a buddy, and check if the amp works fine in his house... u could also go to a car audio shop and have em check the amp there. 4) u may just want to get a new amp. |
