i know performance parts for ST are limited...(unless im wrong then please let me know). what would be a better deal...building my st engine internally and dropping a custom turbo kit...or doing an engine swap? i know the 3sgte or a gt4 is alot of money and work...would it be advisble to swap a gt engine and drop a turbo kit already made for the gt...or should i just go for the swap? thankx

first question that should be asked! what horse power are you looking for? turbo an st is the quickest and cheapest and if your going to swap motors dont just drop a gt in rolleyes.gif just put the 3sgte in.

okay here's the thing, its all about preference and amount money and reliability. Don't go for 5sfe and turbo thats the same amount of work as 3sgte with no where near the gain. turbo st is wut i'm personally going for one day but most would tell u for reliability just go with 3sgte it will cost more in begining but less in long term and once again the power is no were near the same. So in all if u got the money and the will go for 3sgte.

and if you dont have a lot of my money just turbo the st for now and later on swap the 3sgte in

or, if ya wanna be a bad-asss .. Buy an st block and head from someone that has already done the swap.. should be able to find for around 200 bucks.. Then slowly build the internals .. like when ya have time and money.. then set-up a turbo then when its allready just pull out yours drop it all in..a nd theres no need to change or modify anything.. . Like it would be so much easier then a swap.. should be able to swap it out in like a day... I think thats a really good i dea, i ight even do that my self.. damn im a freaking genious.. that cant spell..

i vote for 4age then turbo later. but i dont really know how well the four throttle bodys and well the eingine itself work with boost.

but yeah 4agte is my vote.

That is very unique just like the 7agte but also more money than a 3sgte. which in the end the 3sgte is probably more reliable and easier to modify than a custom job on the scale unique 10 cost 2 (this project is labor intense and expensive) but at a show would probably impress a judge.

yeah itd be awesome. and a boosted car that could rev up to 8500 rpms would be awesome. but yeah it would cost way too much.

but it still gets my vote

to swap or to turbo depends on these questions

how much down time can you afford?

how much money do you want to spend?

how much power do you want?

3SGTE is the only way to go. anything else and you wont be happy. And the cost Really isn't that much different.

I was goingn to say, another thing is about modding the 7a, then turboing it.. your goign to want to get a dif tranny most likly, you could use the 4agze tranny, but thats just one more thing ot buy.. but then aain, I guess it would be just like using the gt tranny on the 3s ...

What ever happen to eather Doggy's 7a job, or the other guys, I remember someone was building a bad ass 7a .. any one know??

Im not sure but isnt high compression bad for a turbo set-up???

also cant you lower compression by getting a bigger head gasket?

yeah edo ended up witha compression of something like the 10.7:1 because he used the 4agze pistons which he thought would fit. but something about how the 7a pistons were cut differently.

or something

you want like 8.5:1 or 8.0:1 for turbo cars i've heard that if you get a bigger head gasket it can be bad or good i've heard both
