So the 3s-gte swap is gonna take more work for my ST? I really want to do this swap and is there any way we can purchase the engine straight from japan?

there is an import shop near my hometown where i can buy the 2nd gen of the sgte, the 225hp version, that comeswith the ecu and wiring harness $1,000. That is for shipping also, straight from Japan.

and maybe a transmission. MR2 Turbo, Camry V6, or Celica GT tranny's will all do fine.

Has anyone heard any stories about how good the camry v6 tranny is, and also does it come with LSD, also, does the mr2 tranny come with LSD?

I would go with the MR2 tranny since it was built to handle a turboed engine.

it doesn't really matter if it came from a turboed car or not, they both were made to handle higher extremities than your stock tranny, its just the mr2 is more resourceful than the camry. Now how about them ACIDS...!? you know...acid?...lsd??...get it??? ...oh forget it Edit- Not the question but the stupid joke I mean. This post has been edited by hiflytsi: Mar 11, 2003 - 8:19 PM |

Dude screw half-cuts or whatever bull they are dealing with and go with http://www.atk-engines.com , ATK
does a special order and in a month or two you get an awesome engine. "3sgte" (6th gen Celica GT-4) is around $ 2,300 (with warranty and free delivery)... For trans you don't want to be dealing with anything else but stock 94-99 Celica GT 5-Speed Manual Transmision (all you need to do is to get a performance clutch)... Edit : Sorry forgot to mention engine mounts... If you are having a shop install the engine don't worry about it since they can make custom ones in less then half an hour and drill couple extra holes in a frame for the extra support! to swap the 3sgte into a ST you are going to need the full front clip...period.. otherwise there's alot of sorcing of parts.
you need the front axles out of the GT4 or GT cuz the ST ones will break. also for the transmission you CAN NOT use the St one... it wont hook up.. also the GT or the Camary ones arnt the best options go with the MR2 one or use the one off of the 3sge engine cuz its gonna be the strongest front wheel trans you can get and is a straight bolt in on a 6th where the MR2 one needs some extra parts <--- not 100% on that but pretty sure edit - u also need new motor mounts the GT ones usally work depending on what gen 3sgte you have This post has been edited by NEVERSTOP: Mar 14, 2003 - 12:41 AM -------------------- 99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =) |

If the engine doesn't come with a ECU and Wiring harness, then you might as well not even bother.

no probly not
LSD's are something extra you buy for a tranny. Just an aftermarket part like a Stage 2 clutch that you have to buy seperate unless it already comes with the tranny you buy. |

Most of the JDM's come with a cut harness, and even if they didnt, u would have to cut it anyway to extend it...anybody kno of any wiring diagrams to make this any easier?
