I wanna know just how fast a boosted 5S is. Anyone have a timeslip? Any cars you've beaten? Chime in boosted 5S guys. I'm guessing is a mid 14 sec car at best

Slow, imagine a slow 3sgte swapped celi; with the boost turned up (more than 10, maybe 12?) you're making about the same amount of power on the same drivetrain as a stock 3sgte; of course the power band is different, and I can't tell you how that effects it.

ur not serious right? frown.gif slow? its not a speed machine but i assure you it can run 14.5 atleast. close. ive raced loads of my frinds with fast cars 13.2 12.8 track times. im not far behind at all. and its only the crappy FE head that limits you after 5k. after a more aggressive cam setting and larger valves. picture a stroked 3sgte= more power. just build the motor right and it makes plenty of power. smile.gif i wanna run 13's after cams and head work, i think thats very obtainable. then some forged internals and up the boost (15psi goal) with larger injectors and pump. get to the 12's lol oh man i cant wait for money.

I wanted to underestimate rather than overestimate; the 5sfte gets so much **** on here. I know it can compete with the 3sgte to a point

I would guess it could too Shind. Most st185 3s's are around 210-220hp (correct me if im wrong). So if you figuer an alltrac runs a 15 flat, maybe we can too (that being generous). so i dunno, but 135 stock, at 8psi (round 10hp per psi for easy numbers) would be 215. With a nice clutch and decent tires....high 14s?

the word slow that shid said was talking about SlowCelica the topic starter.

I think I 5sTfe at 8psi would be comparable to a stock 3S.

I wouldn't give it that much credit ;]... I'd say a turbo 5SFE @ 8psi will make more torque than a 3SGTE at stock boost, but less power. A 1/4 mile run of mid 14's is a good assessment for that set-up...

yeah it all depends on the setup really. im running 11psi now. the car is coming off the road for the winter so ill just do the piston rings, head gasket, and valve seals. ill take a look at the pistons and check for burn marks. the car really loves the boost. and is very reliable never had anything go wrong really. i want to get another set of cams (anybody?) so ill have a spare incase sumthing stupid happens.

It's funny because here in the Celica forums it's a ****ty engine but back home in Puerto Rico pretty much all the boosted 5S-FE MR-2s are in the high and mid 12s. tongue.gif

umm well guys i would hope a 5sfte would be able to beat a new celica gts with intake and exhaust but umm i guess not. looks like 14.5 is a winner for a 5sfte.
