I've got my car now, so I want to know which exhaust is the best, ive been looking around and I think that either Tanabe or HKS have the best looking cat backs, problem is the only manufacturer for the 6g Celi is Greddy with thier SP cat back, I'd get this but it looks kind of funny (No offense ) I mean the tip isnt the best looking and the piping doesnt look much wider or free'er flowing than stock so I was wondering:
1. Can I someone plz post pics of an installed Greddy SP 2. Would the 5g ST-185 HKS Hi-power cat back exhaust be able to be put on a 6g GT, and would this be a good idea? 3. If I were to get a universal Tanabe medallion exhaust where should I go for the piping? 4. Are there any other exhaust manufacturers for the 6g -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As for the intake part I'm strongly considering the injen one for the 6g, but was wondering if it was a cold air intake, even if its not does the heat shield help against the hot engine air, if not are there any good CAI for our gen cars? Also I've hears that the Blitz filter is one of the best out there, if this is true how would I make it into a CAI? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks in advance for any info |

the weapon R intake is pretty nice, the only problem is that its filter is pretty cheasy, you would want to get a K&N filter or a like filter instead.... that would end up costing more than whay you would want to.

The best option is to get one custom made. I have a 5" slash cut cobra backbox (ascar don't know if they are out in the states) which cost me 200 pounds which is fairly expensive but is a well nice box. The rest of the system is 4 inchs all the way through and is all stainless steel. So all in all it cost me just shy of 450 quid but it looks and sounds better then anything HKS would give you and it is pretty much half the price plus you have the choice of pretty much any backbox which is a big bonus if you are as picky as me. At the end of the day it may be a bit more hassel then buying a pre made full sys but the results are a lot better

wouldnt an exhaust with 4'' piping have really low pressure, this would make your car lose any tourque it had and it would actually decrease hp. Unless you have a turbo of course, in which case different mechanics apply and a big 4'' pipe is perfect, ANY one have pics of the GREDDY SP?????????????? ANY other good exhausts/intakes I hear the injen is good

this is a bad picture, but it gives you a basic idea of what the Greddy looks like
not big on looks, I agree. but the sound is deep and gets LOUD only at full throttle, quite nice IMHO. also since the muffler doesn't come chromed out as you may like it to be, you can always put paint thinner on it and it will come out all pretty. |

Yeah thats what i thought but it can't have that little pressure cause when running hot it will kick flames out and it is only a 1.8ST. |

I'm gonna have to go ahead and call BS on this one. there is no way you would gain HP on a 4" exhaust on 1.8L NA engine. that's just the way things work. and you definitely would not have flames coming out the back without some kind of forced induction. the ST engine just doesn't get that hot. sorry to be a downer, but i mean, if you have a 4" exhaust pipe off of an NA 4 cyl, you will lose power. oh, to add to the first post, that HKS exhaust is meant for a turbo engine, so you wouldn't want to put it on your 6 gen. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

ok. wow. c'mon. 4" on ANY 4cyl import n/a car is outrageous. the biggest i'd suggest going on any n/a car is about 2.5"..as for the celica. 2.25". as for the first post, anything NOT made for the 6th generation celica will not fit. i know there is the GReddy SP exhaust, and there is also an HKS Windmaster exhaust that you can get, but that has to be altered slightly to fit. there are also a couple other kits available overseas that will fit w/ minor modifications i believe. as for Intake, i've heard nothing but good things about the DR CAI that is offered by John over on celica.net (his name is The Evilspeed Toe). and yeah. if you wanna go universal, as oreo said, Tanabe and Apexi are good to get, as well as many other brands out there. just do some research and shopping man, you'll figure it all out.

if you dont like the looks of the exhaust you r finding dont get them. the reason you cant find an exhaust that fits your car is because you are probably trying to find a direct fit one. just find a nice univeresal muffler(im going with ractive or borla)and get a shop to do the pipeing. for a n/a car i would definetly not go with pipeing bigger than 2.25 because you will loose tq. when chooseing a shop make sure you find one that can do mendral bends and you should be set. lets face it guys we just dont have the suport that hondas have.
as for the cai, if it doesnt pull air from a location that it can recieve clod air then it will not be a cold air intake. even if it does have a heat resistant sheild or cover or paint or whatever else they use. but on the other token, if the intake does get its air from a cold location but it the gets heated up before it reaches the engine, then it is not a cold air intake either. so the covering and the location of where it gets the air work hand in hand. |

Sorry guys but i swear i have flames granted i have to rag the bolloc** of her from standing but i have plenty of witnesses on a few occasions. I'm not talking fireballs here biggest would be a half foot out of the pipe burning bright blue. One of the reasons why you other st boys may not have flames is because i have an FSE fuel regulator. here is FSE's explanation In an electronic fuel injection system, the fuel is drawn from the tank by the fuel pump, and passed to the fuel rail for delivery to the cylinders via the injectors. Because the fuel pump sends the fuel in pulses, a fuel pressure control valve is required to stabilise the pressure in the fuel rail to provide a constant feed to the injectors. As you accelerate the demand for fuel increases.
"With a standard control valve the pressure in the fuel rail increases by 1 part of fuel for every 1 part of air in the inlet manifold (a ratio of 1 to 1). With a FSE Power Boost Valve the pressure is increased by 1.7 parts of fuel for every 1 part of air (a ratio of 1.7 to 1); thus the maximum flow of fuel is achieved earlier in the rev band. Or to put it another way, fuel pressure increases 1.7 times faster than with a standard valve. The result is a quicker throttle response, without those annoying flat spots you may have noticed, because the engines demand for fuel is always being satisfied. Acceleration is improved and the car becomes more pleasurable to drive. At idle, the settings are approximately the same as standard so CO adjustments are unlikely to be required. The FSE Power Boost Valve is ideal for both fast road and competition use. Unlike standard valves, which are permanently preset, the FSE Power Boost Valve is adjustable to allow you to vary the fuel pressure as a further performance enhancement. This facility is mainly intended for modified engines where the demand for fuel may be greater. The FSE Power Boost Valve is complete, by design. Additional fittings are included, where required". Yes these really works when i rag it is probably not burning very efficiantly hence the flame. You can even adjust the pressure at which fuel is pumped to the engine which doesn't do much for the wallet but makes the car shift good gains from this product would definatly recomend |

I don't think they make one for my 97 GT. It's running the 5S-FE engine and not the 7A-FE for the ST.

a good universal muffler is the apexi n1 and take off your cats you wont lose that much back pressure , and as for CAI you can either go to speedtoe's website or make it yourself...
