My paint on my 95 hatch fornt and rear bumbers could use some freshing up is there a way to like buff out the dirt. If i take an eraser to it and rub it the color looks way better.
Also im not sure if my car has a clear coat on it as some places are a little bit rougher then others espcially the roof and hood. |

you could wet sand it, it would smooth out the clear coat, but you should be really carfull, and use plenty of water.

Wet sand it very lightly. Use lots of water and a very very fine grit paper. You only want to remove oxidized paint, nothing more. Then wash it all off, dry it, pour on some 3M Machine Polish, and go at it with an orbital buffer.
That'll have your paint new-looking and shiny. Just make sure you have enough there to actually wetsand the nasty paint. Sometimes the paint is so oxidized that you end up wetsanding to the metal ![]() |

I would reconsider wet sanding since you don't have clear coat on your car. Stock paint is acrylic enamel. Get a polishing compound and a high speed buffer. The ones from the hardware store aren't high speed.

A claybar is essential. Then a good wax/polish, otherwise your hours of work with the claybar is going to go to waste.

Id say a fresh coat of clear coat, buffing and all thats just going to take even more base coat out. A good way of telling if your down to base is if the color comes off when waxing or buffing

Yeah, oops, I didn't know your color was acrylic enamel. You only wetsand base/clear. My 93 ST was light blue and had base/clear. I got it repainted a custom color and now it's still base/clear but I won't be needing to do anything too drastic any time soon
