I have been working on my future house for a wile now, I've been cleaning, painting etc. and taking things to the local garbage dump, usualy I take my parents van but I hate that thing. anyway, I took my car and they weighed it to figure out how much I have to pay, it ended up that my car with me was just about 2000 lbs. I dont know how much a stock gt weights but I was suprised, my little civic was listed at 2500 lbs.

anyway I'm board and felt I should share that story, and tell all you guys if you wana see how much your car weights just take it to a local dump, with some junk, and you've got it. some places have a min amount of money to charge for a car but even so, you will still get the weight.

also: its so funny to see all the people with there big trucks and junk looking at you, like your crazy.

hmm. It showed 2054 lbs maybe the scale is fixed, or not very accurate for lightweight cars. could be that my mechanic swaped in an aluminum motor instaid of a factory motor, that would be decent.

or maybe I got a special gt smile.gif

I'm guessing the scale was inaccurate. 2,000 is just too light for a sixth gen Celica, especially with a person inside. wink.gif

It says how much the car is suppose to weigh on the jam, its not an actual reading. and no my eyes are just fine (i hope) it must be wrong, probilby just not acurate for light cars, its use to big garbage trucks and stuff. Oh well, i though it was a good idea.

You could have easily misread 2854 as 2054 - I see this happen all day in my line of work - or the scale could be off... who knows.

heh, i'd say that something too heavy got on this(if it's a giant spring)
or that there was a leak if an air-compressed thing, and they fixed it but killed the volume at the same time..
but im just talkin out my ass

to get weights goto

auto.consumerguide.com

Curb Weight people not GVWR.

-Ti

and yes, average person inside a Gt would way around 2800 lbs. If you were in the car and it weight only 2g's, then your car is around 1800 curb weight. Your talking Lotus right there. Sorry to pop bubbles.

EDIT: Most scales for semis(etc) cant read small cars. I went to a semi-scale at the highway stop and my Eclipse came up at 1600lbs with 2 people it in. Its not heavy enough for the scales to give accurate readings.

hmmm....or the scale was off....but they dont care, because its off when you weigh in, so the amount dumped is still correct.....see what im saying? (in otherwords, the scale IS accurate, but not precise. (for you science people out there))

It being off by over 500 pounds is far from accurate... I bet most peole here can't even lift 500 pounds... FYI... my AE86 completely stripped weighs just a bit over 2000 pounds... and it's a much smaller car.
