So I was looking at a post and came upon this:

Everyone was having a cow about how retarded it was to do a pseudo-Benz body kit. Agreed. But there was little mention of the rear-mounted engine. That had me floored. And I couldn't find any discussion about a mid engine Celica anywhere here.

Assuming this Polish company actually did it, and it's not a lame Photoshop job, I am impressed.

What confuses me is that it looks like a straight four in there. If you're going to drop the money to convert the rear compartment to have an engine (drivetrain, suspension...), you might as well go huge.

I personally think there'd be nothing cooler than a AWD mid-engine V10 Celica. I didn't think it could be done (without tons of cash) until I saw this Easer car. Comments?

...except maybe a wheelbarrow full of free tacos, that'd be cooler.

Heheh... you've any idea how much that can cost? Anything is do-able... but isn't really practical. If you want a AWD MR with big displacment... go by a Lambo... ;] That just might be more cost effective than building one.

Right, which is why I balked at someone saying the cars went for 25 G's (which a significant portion would have to go to the 5 tons of fiberglass). If mounting a rear engine is so not-worthwhile, why would Easer do it?

To mod the cargo area to be able to handle an engine, reroute all the fuel and exhaust systems, and create a completely new drivetrain... I just can't imagine it being cost effective. So how/why did Easer do it?

maybe its not functional. kind of like the replica v10's in the back of fiero/lambo replicars

Well I found the English version... and it answers some questions.

QUOTE
We have also been working on our own design of kit car styled on the exciting Mercedes CLK GTR AMG, which after 2 years of preparations we succeeded in presenting at a Motor Trade Fair in Poznan in Poland in 2001.

We called our new model EASER GTR. In the preliminary stages 2 prototypes were produced using Rover 800 parts and 2500 V6 engines. We have now completed the final version using our own wishbones and rear hubs, designed to fit Ford Scorpio parts with options for using variety of engines.

EASER GTR is manufactured to the highest standard, well equipped with electric windows and mirrors, and leather finish interior.

We can offer two versions of this model:

I. Ready made car at a cost of £21,000 plus cost of the engine and gearbox

The mention of the Rover and Scorpio brings into question whether or not it actually is a modded Celica. Well it's definitely not either of those cars.

I was wrong, the rear engine isn't a 4, but it also apparently works. A V6 isn't too bad. So I guess that means all the aforementioned mods were done.

But some poor fool thought 21,000 pounds meant 25,000 dollars. Sadly it does not. 21,000 pounds definitely puts it up there with the Lambos in price.

So I guess that means a rear engine Celica can be done, but for a lot of money.

That thing looks like a group B celica!

Are you all sure its AWD or did you guess? It would be easy for them to set up a RWD config but to do the AWD drivetrain would take some work I'd think.

If I had a choice I'd prefer RWD imagine normal celi handling with much much better turn in smile.gif

Nah, I was saying AWD would be cool (brilliant handling). I think the Easer is RWD.

Oh yeah, and Italian cars only suck in Paul Walker movies.
