My VAC is between -19 & -21 at idle, but when I try to boost and it reaches 0 lbs, I lose power. My RPMs are normally around 2500-3000 when this happens. If I punch it (which I hardly ever do) I can get it above 0 lbs and boost fine.

The turbo has no shaft play, and was installed a couple of weeks ago. I'll be bringing it down to the shop today, but wanted to see if anyone here knew what it might be.

Thanks.

my guess would be boost leak, or exhaust manifold leak. do you have a fmic, or topmount?

I have the 5SFTE

The right side VAC line on the wastegate actuator is capped.

I have a front mounted Spearco Intercooler.

Thought that it was a manifold leak as well, checked this morning, everything is tight. I used the correct torque setting when installing the new turbo.

I'll get some pictures of my VAC line setup when I get home.

Not all vacuum lines were zipped tied.

Zipped 'em all up, reset the ECU, problem went away. Must have been a loose line.

Would be nice if it was my only problem smile.gif

yeah, loose vac lines= boost leak. i noticed that the metal hose clamps you can get at pepboys work a lot better then zipties, so you might want to look into those if your ties fail.

what type of vac readings to 5sfTes get at idle anyway?

It usually sits between -19 to -21.

I still get a lot of resistance/hesitation below ~2700 rpms untill the boost kicks in. Pretty sure thats typically normal with this kit, but am interested to see how much a dyno tune will correct which I plan on doing soon.
