ok guys i found these thing on some site, i cant find the site any more but basicly these things are like little clamps u attach to your springs, and u just tighten it to bring the springs closer together and therefor lowering your car.


has any one heard of something like this, is it good, bad, most probly bad but yeh tell me wut u think

no it doesn't lower your car.....its holds the springs in place by going between spring levels and keeps them solid so you can launch better

or there are spring clamps that you use to compress the spring when working on your suspension but not to be used during driving

DON'T BE CHEAP you'll get yourself killed will incorrect suspension

save your money and get springs

No, actually there are/were clamps like that to compress the springs. The poor man's lowering job. biggrin.gif Haven't seen those in a loooooooong time! Don't waste your money -- they don't work.

actualy the poor man's lowering job is just to cut them with a hack saw, thats the semi-poor man, who does not wana destroy the stock springs

but yeah, that crap is stupid and dangerous, get springs, there only like $150, maybe less.

Im with player on this one......definatly only for driving my friend's parents bought him a new WRX (lucky bastard) and he was being cheap and used those compressors.....he definatly cracked his struts like 2 weeks later and now he is spending the money anyways

No, those clamps really were used to lower the car, not compress the springs for installation work. I know because I bought some (a long time ago -- in the day that we used to use lowering blocks on the rears). They were only long enough to compress two adjacent coils together -- I've seen the installation tool and they are much longer because they have to compress a lot. Anyway, don't get them, they don't work. Just bite the bullet and buy new springs.

dont worry guys i wasnt gonnabuy these things just wonted to know wut they were and how they worked a little better coz ive never seen them.

ehh and spring have to wait just like everything else until i get my front fixed frown.gif

A long, long time ago.......when some cars had leaf springs in the rear and the axle was attached to the top of the leaf spring with u-bolts, people would lower their cars by inserting a "lowering block" between the axle and leaf spring. Basically it was just a spacer. All it did was raise the axle relative to the spring, making the rear ride lower. And the front was typically lowered by cutting or heating the springs. Lowering springs weren't that common.

I though with leaf springs you could just take on leaf off to lower it, but I see how a block would do it too.

I would guess that removing a leaf would be similar to cutting a coil -- probably affects the ride too much. I really dunno tho.

yeah i bet it would be just as bad, but people will do anything to get it low some times.
