I've got this Pioneer in there right now thats rather bland. Organic ELs are cool, but I don't know if I want to get one of those. I want one with a spectrum analyzer on it...you know like on Winamp. I could sit and watch the SA on Winamp forever. But I can't find any decks with them. I think Kenwood has some...I think...but do you guys know of any?

check out the DEH-P8400MP according to the pioneer webpage it has 2 Spectrum Analyzers and 3 Level Meters. Don't know what they look like but it's a place to start.

do what i do....get one with a screen (panasonic is good) it plays mp3, dvd, cd, mpegs, etc.

i can fit like 230 songs on one cd using mp3 (if you didn't know)

and the new songs out i download the videos (mpeg) and put it on a cd and drive around and people look over and hear the song and they are like WTF???? the video too...it is a good conversation starter...girls are like whoa how do you do that??? then i say "wanna get it i'll show you" hehehe

it's expensive though...i think that the list price on mine is like 2 g's got it for 1300 though..i bought my whole system all at once so they gave me hella discounts on everything...plus my buddy is the manager..

edit: well he is only my buddy because of the store...hehehe

Heh, I thought about the DVD player...but those are $1900 for that Panasonic. I'm not a fan of Sony decks...but that Pioneer looks pretty swell, despite it being $500. Know of any Kenwoods?

Have you seen the new Panasonics? They have Ghost display, where the entire head unit fades to black when turned off - and when you want it on, just lightly tap the screen and it turns on. There are no buttons, it is all one big touch sensitive screen with buttons that apparently look quite real.

You can change the display colour to suit your car, the choices are: Storm, Level, Fire, Twilight, Forest, Sky, Ocean, Sun, and Snow

And yes there is a spectrum analyser smile.gif, here is what the website says: In addition to 6 preset colors, the CQ-HX2083U gives you such fine RGB control that you can choose from a million or more different colors by adjusting the individual red, green, and blue channels.

The power is 60w X 4 and it has mp3 playback. MSRP $499.99

Here's the links

Panasonic Features

-- No I don't work for Panasonic smile.gif A friend is about to buy a Panasonic so I've learnt lots about them.

The best advice I've heard is: Find 3-4 head units you like the look of and that do what you want, go and listen to them, and buy the one you like the sound of the most.

I'm using the Pioneer DEH-8400MP. It's a VERY nice head unit. Lots of features and it looks great. Like was said earlier, 2 spectrum analyzers, 3 level meters, I think 6 background displays and 2 short movies.

Edit: These retail about $500 at Electronic Express. I got mine brand new from Ebay for $350.
