ok im starting to get serious about buying a 3sgte 3rd gen and swapping it with my 7afe in my 97 st...i know everyone says to get the engine with the mr2 tranny but ive been offered a deal for the engine alone and i dont want to go through all the conversion of the mr2 tranny and axles to use it in a celica...is it possible to buy GT engine mounts from the 97GT, and use the 6th gen 5sfe tranny in my AT200 chasis? will it fit in there just like the 7afe tranny and then i could bolt the bare 3sgte to it? Ive just never heard of people putting the 5sfe tranny in an ST? I just want an easier way than converting to the MR2 tranny

yeah it can be done... if i where you though i would get a mr2 tranny if your planning on a drag race(gear ratios better) but i see no reason why your idea wouldnt work...

so you saying the the 5sfe tranny will drop right into my ST and run with the old drive train, axles, and everything and then all id need is the drop in the 3sgte after some engine mounts r in??? so theres not gonna be any major mods like the MR2 tranny to get the 5sfe in?
