51 in a 30. i figured the limit was 40 because it was a 4 lane road. anyway, after court costs and lawyer fees (to get the ticket taken off record) im in the hole $250. it may not sound like much to you guys, but i have to bag a lot of groceries to make up for it biggrin.gif. mods on my celi will be idle for at least 3 months because i have to pay for that, build up $500 for insurance in july, and pay $100/mo for payments. im so pissed i cant do anything to my celi for a while.

Uhh, you guys are critisizing him cus he was going 51 on a 4 lane road and didn't know the speed limit and assumed it was a 40? Guys, get a friggin life. Most 4 lane roads ARE a 40, or a 45, or even aa 50. Very few are 30, and those usually have stop signs and or speed bumps.

Sucks you got a ticket rocky, you weren't really doing anything wrong.

I hate that you guys flame on people that barely speed... Like you guys dont, just you havnt been caught! I use to live in LA and I drove 80-90 to work everyday, because this was the flow of traffic! The speed limit was only 60, and as low as 55 in some spots... Then I had to work on thanksgiving and I was the only person on the road, cruising at 80 in a part of the freeway that was 65 and I got a ticket. The one day when it was safe to go way over the limit I get a ticket for going slower then I do every other day.

I think you guys flame on people because you want to sound much more responsible then you are, yet you probably do the same thing. Most of you that do this "flaming" on street racers and speeders want 3s-gte's, and I ask you for what? comuting at the speed limit!? I doubt it.

All I'm saying is dont be so mean to people when they have already been punished for what they did, we all have more then enough parents and people to tell us we did bad, we dont need more.

i actually drive slower when the roads are empty, sometimes even below the speed limit

when i drive to and from my college, its almost a 70mile one way trip, and i drive at 85-90, and thats what everyone else is doing. at 95mph, the windows on my beater car start to pop open, lol!

you dont stand out as much when everyone else is speeding, just dont try to pass someone unless you know there are no cops around.

Ya know what cracks me up?? Parking police at my school. They make me laugh everytime I see them out. First off, they drive a fully equipped crown vic. And when they spot a car without the tag on it, they slam it into park and JUMP out and jog over to the car and start writing the tickets. I need to take a video of it sometime. Its awesome.. lol

sucks to hear, Fight the power. the speed limits have been the same from the friggen 70's when cars sucked now we have ones that can do them fine i speed constanly. 80 on the highway is my cruising speed. 45 on ALL back roads is my speed. even those omg 25 miles per our roads. i could car less i havent killed anyone yet nor got in any accidents that i have harmed anyone. i got a 250 dollor speeding ticket. fought it and got it reduced to 100 not bad.

Def fight it in court no matter what. the cop might not show then your off. or they might jsut lowering it after listing to your story. basicly waist there time and appeal it if u loose again just waist there time and money.

im not a fan of cops they never seem to be there for me when i need them. but when your not harming anyone and hte only car on the road they seem out to get you and not the punk kids who do drugs on the street corners...... end rant. tongue.gif

agreed. the only things that really bug me about it is 1. i was driving behind a pickup going the exact speed as me, and 2. a 4 lane road with no stop signs or speedbumps should not be 30mph. i was speeding and i take the punishments for it, though.

skabass1, is it how to talk a cop out of giving you a ticket or is it how to get out of a ticket after you already have one? if you send it to my email, i can host the file for everyone on my website.

x itchy b x, im just paying a lawyer to go to my court and making my ticket into a parking violation (doesnt go on record). besides, i suck at negociating.

you should have fought the ticket yourself. I've gotten out of several speeding tickets. It takes some time and research, but it's kinda fun to stick it to the cop. There are even organizations on the internet that you pay some yearly fee, and they will guarantee to pay for any speeding ticket that you get and don't beat in court if your a member. Laywers are a waste of money for speeding tickets, unless you get some wreckless driving charges or something crazy.

The trick in beating the ticket is'nt proving you were'nt speeding. The trick is to prove the cop's not qualified to give you a ticket based on his paperwork that they don't expect you to ask for in court.

among other things, he needs to be able to prove that he can recall your direct violation WITHOUT his notes. he will always need his notes, which will be allowed, but you prove he can't remembe ryou when u bring it up. Ask him stuff like what color tshirt you were wearing

If he does read from his notes, you could object. Say that the witness does not have independent recollection of the events and must be dismissed as increditable. If that does'nt work and they allow it, you ask to see the notes that the witness is reading from. (mind game for the cop, because you can ask for things that he can recall that are not on his notes)

As far as paperwork. The trick is to get the cop to testify to his certification and the certification of his equipment. Then after his testimony is over, you say that it is all object and claim heresay and he did not submit the paperwork. Therefore, making his claim insubmissable. If the judge still allows it, he needs to provide his certification to operate a radar gun, the gun's calibration records, and in some states the calibration of the tuning fork used to calibrate the gun. Also, the dates of when all those things were done could get you another technicality.

Another fun trick (that only works in a few states) is when you are pulled over to ask to see the speed he clocked you at on the radar gun. If he does not, then you can say in court that he refused to show it to you because he is lying. I tried this one and the judge said that if I was in Wisconsin or some other state (can't remember exactly which ones) that he would have to throw it out.

Remember, it's not a matter of the cop's word against yours. Your betting on him not having his ducks in a row. Another bonus is if you pull this stuff and get him on not having his paperwork, everyone in court that goes after you is free to go also.
