North Korea's Yongbyon nuclear facility.

(CNN) -- Citing what it calls U.S. threats to topple its political system, North Korea said it is dropping out of six-party nuclear talks and will "bolster its nuclear weapons arsenal," the country's official news agency KCNA said Thursday.

The report was North Korea's first public admission that it possessed nuclear weapons.

Pyongyang previously has asserted its ability and right to produce them. In April 2003, U.S. officials said that North Koreans claimed in private meetings they had at least one nuclear bomb.

On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called on North Korea to reconsider its decision to withdraw from the talks or risk further isolation.

Rice said the North Koreans, by leaving negotiations, would be "deepening their isolation because everyone in the international community, and most especially North Korea's neighbors, have been very clear that there needs to be no nuclear weapons on the Korean Peninsula in order to maintain stability in that region."

In the statement reported by KCNA, the North Korean Foreign Ministry said: "We have shown utmost magnanimity and patience for the past four years since the first Bush administration swore in.

"We cannot spend another four years as we did in the past four years, and there is no need for us to repeat what we did in those years."

Haha!! I love how NK blames it on Bush...

"Thursday's statement from the North Korean Foreign Ministry said nuclear weapons are "for self-defense to cope with the Bush administration's evermore undisguised policy to isolate and stifle" its government."

Well, this was a bad move on NK's part. China has always had a policy of "Well back NK up as long as they dont do something stupid." Well... they just did something stupid. My guess is that they will be back in the talks in a year due to overwhelming pressure from China.

thats not true the worlds most threating country is the US
we are the worlds LARGEST super power with THE MOST weapons
and nuclear/hydrogen and biological bombs

korea is just a faint wisper in the wind we have no reason to invade them and i HIGHLY doubt we'll even invade EVER

and we don't invade innocent people we never have "invaded"
an invasion is to conquer land and to colonize other peoples the US has not done that yet to my knowledge by war......as for vulnerable countries
now the only one that is vulnerable is FRANCE besides that everyone else is perfectly capable of fighting
i mean look at IRAQ damn those people can kick our asses alot
but not meaning we won't beat them in the end wink.gif

I'm not really sure what relevance that has or what it even it means. Within Europe, France is only second in military size to the UK. Iraq on the other hand were defenseless; notice how it took us a matter of weeks to overpower their military forces, we are battling insurgents now that are not part of their military.

Also your comment that the US never invaded another country is incorrect. Grenada anyone?

As for North Korea. Like Pali_playa said we won't touch them because they can actually hurt us. Just wait, we will go after Iraq and after that maybe take a long hard look at Syria. North Korea if threatened will take out major cities in South Korea and Japan at a moments notice, no way we are going to risk that.

oh and another thing, after reading the other post, yes we have invaded, MANY other countries, maybe not to "Take Over" but more or less, to institute democracy........thank the cold war for that..........look at africa for example, and maybe better yet iran........in africa, our troops were actually sent there to fight a war so one guy could win, as long as he "praised democracy"...........and in iran, everyone knows about that, or at least you guys should........what im trying to say is, these days "invasions" are more political than the"run in take over" thing..........this iraq **** is just all messed up, because we truly have a messed up president.... redface.gif

i feel bad for all americans cause nobody wants to agree on anything
everyone needs to support the president and our troops no matter what
if we don't support them then they have no moral and then they lose the will and motivation to fight well.......

US will never go into NK not because we are worried about NK attacking back. We are worried about China attacking back! NK has always been "non-offically" under the protection of the Chinese nuclear blanket. Just like how Taiwan is "non-offically" under the US nuclear blanket, and thats why China does not go after them.

But now that they have thier own nukes, im not sure how China wants to take that. Either they are (a) "Yay!! New nuclear ally!" (b) "Crap!! Criminally insane neighbor with nucelar destructive power! 'F' them!! we dont care anymore! They can protective themselves!!"

LOL. u SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY underestimate the power that N. Korea has. It may be a small country, but the dude in charge is a CERTIFIED lunatic. Dont talk about something you don't know much about. N. Korea is a HUGE threat to the USA right now. Everybody says that the USA is so bada** and blah. They may be powerful but they overlook a lot of other countries.
