well tomorrow i'm racing a 99 eclipse gsx the crank power is 210 hrs 214 trq what do you think she is putting to the ground

i'm think a 20% loss because of the all-wheel drive
so 175 whp 178 trq

if this is right and i leave my boost at 9.5
which is 170 whp and 180 trq
i should take her i'll probably up it to 10-11 psi

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

If you top it up to 10-11psi, you may run out of fuel... and run lean, melt your piston or worse biggrin.gif

Leave it on 9.5 and see what happends.. And tell us how it was, better take video or somthing smile.gif But you will be left from the start for sure cuz it has AWD..

i think i will leave it at 9.5 psi.Yeah i'm getting a friend to video it. now i have to go figure out which rpm to lanch at to get max traction. today i think i'll stop by her work and take a look under the hood. See if she has any surprizes for me.
she has been in a car club around her for the last few years and 2 guys in that club have 1 97 integra 400+ whp ( we dyno at the same place) other rollin a 90 talon 600 whp mostly just for racing but drives it around half of the summer

if 140ish hp turns into 95ish hp on a dyno for a FF, i'd say 35% loss ;-)
140ish at the wheels
(my wheel numbers are just coming from the burien website dyno)

35% is ridiculously high. Its generally a 10-15% loss for FWD and 20-25% loss on RWD and 25-30% on AWD.

Also, the GSX is not a light car, your car will underweigh it, and with the close of power, you stand a good chance. Just make sure you have a decent launch because AWD will take FWD everytime.

Do you have any information regarding the cars? ST/GT and what not?

GT, the first dyno is before turbo, and 2nd is after turbo wink.gif
unless they're trying to do a lil scam, which is possible

i looked in power pages for import tuner they had a baseline for the project 99 gst at 168 whp i'll find the link hold on

here dyno results

165 hp at 185.0 lb-ft of torque and thats on a FWD eclipse turbo so i would take another 10% less for 2 more wheels to power

so...might be as low as 149 whp 167 trq

If its 168awhp thats 20% loss and real low for AWD.

Nevermind you said GST, not GSX. Yeah thats mediocre for FWD.

i've been had...by Burien frown.gif
w/ an ST that's 15% tranny loss at first, and w/ GT in end...

and check a DSM forum, my roomate is into them and i remember him one time going off about the rating HP on those...

btw, i agree Erik, the tranny loss should not be that high.
wish we had some stock 2nd gen 3S dynos so we can tell what is being lost from the 225.

Why did they put an ST on the same dyno as a GT? I dont get it, something is messed up.

Where did you find that information about the ST?

lol, dont know for sure if it is an ST, but yea...
i really dont see a 30% tranny loss on a stock set-up
and also, 143 when running 5psi
from their site:
"The kit is designed to run 5 to 7 psi. Dyno tests showed an increase of 45.4 front wheel horsepower. We tested at 5 pounds of boost. This is about what we expected and should put close to 190 hp at the crank. Keep in mind, we're not trying to build record shattering race cars, we're just taking a great car such as the Celica or MR2 NA and giving it a bit more power so it behaves more like the sports car it was intended to be. Besides, Turbo MR2's are getting hard to find and are getting quite expensive.
"

they calculated a 25% loss on the FF...
weird.
i got class now, i'll read what else has been said when i get back

Yeah I've read it a couple times. Somethings not right. To lose about a 27% power on a FWD car is absurd.

I only lost 24% on both my AWD DSMs. The car holds power well. It weighs roughly 3000 lbs. Celica weighs roughly 2600. The AWD will pwn you off the line. And on the disbelief many non-owneres have, the AWD does not "suck" off the roll. Also, DSMs are hella-easy to modify. A 50 dollar boost controller will put the car at 14psi and roughly put 210 down to the wheels. I'd be shocked that a tuner would own a 100% stock Eclipse. AWD shouldn't be taken lightly.

Also, since you wondering where to launch. Look at your dyno sheets and launch at the max torque number. Should be around 4500 rpms or so. May be different since your turbo.
