hey guys! ive been here about a month and im loving all the input im observing. I need some advice from u guys.... i have a 94 st auto, and im thinking about going to school to get my masters, its about time for a new car and my car runs fine, but i work far away and ive got 180 000 miles on it, ive put another stock engine in (its at about 100,000 now) and im wondering if i should just sell the car and finance a recent model used car (RSX 2001 celica) or just take a loan out for $6,000 to swap a new engine (4agze or 3sgte) instead of getting a loan for 14K on a new car. what would u guys do?

The RSX is very nice, but so is a Celica with a swap. In your situation, I'd probably swap in a 3S-GTE and convert to a five-speed. It's way cheaper than buying a RSX, and your car will be faster than any stock RSX.

Why would you want to stick with an auto? cars are there to be driven. There are some very rare GT4 automatics kicking about, I saw one for sale about a year ago so it is possible to mate up an auto box to the 3sgte engine. I`d put an non-automatic in, much more fun and drivable, make yourself part of the driving experience and not just a glorified passenger.
Oh and I`d keep the Celica and do a swap |
