yup, you heard it. the celica, well not exactly mine has been messed up. more like my friends. jon, he owns a 97 toyota celica st anniversey edition. from what i can get from his mumble the stuff that is messed up is bumper, fender, door, low beam driver side, the whole front suspension, axle snapped, a rim is tortured to hell. he has no damage and wasnt at fault because it involved 2 cars and a deer, the other car dodged and went into his lane almost hit him, jon dodged the car and hit a bank going 55 ish but the airbags didnt deploy (odd). so im not exactly shure how much this is gonna cost him but he's pissed because his mom is bitching him out and blaming him for the whole thing, not shure but wouldnt it have been worse if he hadnt dodge the car and still not been at fault. possible death or a bad injury.

nah its all fixable problems, its not totalled so he's just gonna fix it but he's gonna be out of a car for a while. he's not a member cuz he's not really into forums and stuff about cars, i've suggested it to him alot of times but he always says no.

i took pictures of the damage, most of the damage is actually mechanical. dealing with the cv joints, actuator arm and basically all the front right suspension is needing replaced

The airbag did not deploy probably cos the impact wasn't hard enough?
I'm not sure about the Toyotas but the Volvos has very advance sensor system for their airbags. They have dual stage deployments whereby the airbag would either deploy 70% or 100% depending on the level of impact. Because they have more advance safety systems like SIPS and pre-tensioners to act as primary safety net, the airbag might not be required if the impact was not hard enough. I've seen an XC90 crashing into the dividers at 110km+ and the airbag did not deploy. The driver fell asleep while driving on the highway, she fell asleep and the car basically rammed into the dividers, the fender was gone infact the drive shaft was broken (i think). The owner was walking and chatting away happily in the workshop when i met them. This post has been edited by delroz: Mar 27, 2005 - 5:26 AM |
