I have a 7A-FE with Auto transmission. I wanted to know if I'd get more power from turbocharging my 7A or from swapping it with a 4A-GZE? What would be less of a pain? And how much would each project run me, approximately?

Anyone got the wiring???

hmm, with the swap u have more potential but truth is no body's done it before so u won't get any wiring help. turboing the 7a is going to run you about 3 and that will get u everything u need. if u search a little i believe there's a how to on it and everything.

i read somewhere that the 4a gze is supercharged and has about 170 hp. I have a 7a as well in a 94 st. i didnt know that nobody has done it before, I was thinking about swapping that into my car too...instead of a a 3sgte. if you have an automatic ST, you have to convet it to a manual for the 3sgte swap to work. (from what I have heard here).

ok slow down i made 170 whp and 180 trq at 9.5 psi on my 7afte set up
which was sold but im having a hard time getting a hold of 97celica so it might go back up for sale here soon it will run you about $1800-$2500 to do this
the 7age will probably only get you 120whp remember this is preety much a swap because of the wiring you have to do
the 7agte which i'm working on now i'm trying to build a 300+ whp this is in progress right now hoping to finish by May
the 4agze with a bigger pulley can get you in the same range as the 7afte plus some and safer because the motor is already made for F.I.

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

the 4agze ecu psi limit is 15 psi isnt it.? after that you will need a piggy or stand alone

that 220 is with a pulley and some tweeking probably a few extra builts ons but correct me if im wrong

yes... however the s/c can only handle that much and the internals can only handle that much ... thats one of the reasons its not a popular way to go 4agze instead most guys that do it (in the ae86 community) turbo it...

yeah a 4agte with hks 1.7L kit is a very nice engine

I'm kinda going the same route 4agze head with a turbo and pistons on the 7afe bottom with new rods and crank

well i think.... dont quote me on this... the way im gonna do it is with the 5afe 4agze head conversion... 4agze overbore pistons and twin charge

after a lil more research i believe its actually a stroked out 4age... more to come...

Well... the 5AFE is actually a motor on its own... and it's not like a 4A. The HKS stroker is quite rare and expensive to come by... so that's why people just use the 7A bottom-end, which is plently strong for most street applications...
