Hehe, Well..... Lets start.
First of all, who aint know yet, me and Edo (Link to his profile >>>) where contacting eatch other about 2 years now. He helped me alot, i did the same. We live about 1700 miles away from eatch other (he's italian), but we talked alot on phone and etc. So.... The deal is - Edo, was going to fix his car from the accident hes got, and he wanted full repaint. In italy they charge about 2500 euros (2800$) for full repaint with color change. So i offerend him my help, and aranged everything here for a full repaint with color change a LOOOOOooooot cheaper I aranged the truck (my friend buys cars from Italy, so he helped me with bringing Edos car here), and after 5 days of waiting i drove his car home From the first look, there wasnt too much wokr on his car... But... after some further examination.. i found Waaaayyyyyy too much things to do before it goes to paint shop.. Here it is, the damage and things need to be fixed: Fender..... Out of shape - compleatly, the whole shape is made out of Bondo... What the hell do goys thought then they fix it? The metal is not even straighted, the dents are all letf and instead of hamerring the metal out to the place they fixed it with bondo..... Bumper, needed a bit of heat gun, and soldering gun And after 30 min it was just like new Driver side fender... it looked just like not a big dent.... hmmm, till i started to hamer it... It seemed like both fenders had a big damage, but instead of shaping metal to its original pl;ace, the guys who fixed car before, go the fender shape outt of bondo, with offcorse started to crack.... Side skirts - Going Custom Baby I will make my own style of sides for him anyway, so what ever the damage is - i dont care Interior.... Who ever painted this - deserves to be shoot. Wiring... Oh man Edo, you know what i thought I will rewire everything, and mount the Profec E01 to the shifter trim, so it will be NO wires all around, and everything will be safe and clear Well, enouth ox examinations...... Lets start works After about hour, his car looked like this... Hood was open, and works where fully began. 30 min later - both fenders are out of the car, waiting till i remove whole bondo from them, sand them till bare metal, and then hammer them to the original shape. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

Passenger side fender - works began Sanded all the bondo, hammered it to its almost original place, but still lots of work left...... Found a lot of places there the rust was already going below the bondo...
There was few places there the metal was riped apart from the damage... so here comes welder and everything fixed Now need to sand the welding spots down - and we will be almost done. testing to see if the shape is starting to look better, and fixing smal incorections. Resanded everything with orbital sander - and we are done before coating the anti-rust spray begins. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

heres how much of Bondo i found on fenders, this is just simple example HOW NOT TO DO IT! use as minimum bondo as posible the\n working outside of your car, try to get shape as much as posible from metal... Cuz bondo - cracks, setles down from sun, and leaves unwanted scratch marks and inperfections.
Here it is - second fender resanded, and rehamered to its place.. After i removed fenders i found another problem - frame damage... It is not big at all, but the front frame is all pushed down and turned left a bit.. This what cased Edos car to have iregular tire wear and some suspension problems.. The frame was welded BUT not straighned. Left as it is..... what person could do this??? Thanks god i have few guys who does this kind of jobs, so this was fixed already on second day And it seemd that there wasnt too much of damage, one wheel was pushed to the back about 1cm, so after the frame rewokrs everything was back to normal This was the End of DAY ON, worked on his car about 6 hours, fixed bumper, fenders... Not too much done.. but still More updates pretty soon -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

Start of day 2
Poor headlight... If you notice, all the headlights there missing mounting brackets.. they there all broken in accident had to glue the left one, and make new brackets out from nothing.. here are 2 brackets, soldered with soldering gun and some plastic (thanks god i still had my old healight with was all broken, so i used the same plastic to make the brackets, they now are good as new here is one guiding bracket, witch was getting on my nerves... i had to make it out from nothing.. used the old headlight bracked (the headlight was from left side s i had to rework it to fit on right side headlight)... it took me about 2 hours till i got it right in to place there it needs to be... and used lots of plastic to glue it up.. now it holds up like it was there Well, this practicly was teh end of the second day, cuz i had to finish my works early cuz weather was nice, and i wanted to play tennis sooooo badly Hehe, more updates - Thusday, then i start to reasemble the front back together and will try to get everything to shape as posible, need to adjust all the fender/hood/bumper/headlights gaps... this will be very much work.... But this car will be one show stoper then i finish with it -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

wow, great job Romas. I wish I had time to do the sort of things you do. Why didn't you just get some used or aftermarket fenders instead of repairing ?
also, are those Audi/VW wheels on Edo's Celica ? again, nice nice job -------------------- |

Well, doGGy. I was impressed just by your work with tuning parts but now... HUGE RESPECT!!!
Seems to me that I should also have some work done, just like edo. Whole body painting - definitely, after getting fixed some scratches and bumps on fenders and doors. Could you PM me on the cost, if you could do it. Luckily, I would not have to ship my car - I could just drive it to you This post has been edited by TomPoz: Apr 11, 2005 - 4:43 AM -------------------- '94 ST202 - tuned, highly apprieciated, but sold.

I respect you alot for being a car innovator however let me ask you doggy:
Having your knowledge and skills with custom bodywork, why did you spend all this time fixing stock fenders? Did the guy want the manufacturer look on his car? This post has been edited by yarik83: Apr 11, 2005 - 9:03 AM -------------------- Captain Pessimist
