I was reading the How-to on the rear disc brake conversion, not quite clear on the parts needed, could someone clarify.

Parts:

1. Caliper from any 6th gen cel w/out ABS - do these have to be from a celica?
2. Rotor - check
4. Internal Brake components for parking brake - I can use the drum brake St parts for this right?
5. Backplate - whats this?
6. Parking brake cable from a 6th gen GT - heard you could use the one from the st.

1) yes, you need to get some REAR GT calipers.
2) check
4) no, that's why it's on the list of stuff to get. it's like a mini-drum brake behind the disc brake.
5) the plate that goes in between the brake assembly and the rest of the car, if you look in the pics in the write up, you'll see what i mean.
6) no, you need one from a GT, the Ebrake is different (see #4)

I talked to mike (Quatar11) and he said he's doin a kit for a drum --> disc conversion here in a couple weeks. I think he said Charlie97 is helpin him out too, not sure. So you might want to hold on and just buy the kit from them.

Won't the older gen parts work also? I think 4th and 5th gens parts should work... but then again, I've never attempted this mod. All I know is, 4th gens are pretty common at the junkyards around this area.

negative, 4th gens and 5th gen STs had 4 lug hubs. mike and i are working on a kit that will be available thru topshelfracing, now that i've gotten past my major schoolwork for the semester, i can start getting the ball rolling on my end. smile.gif

Just to bring this back up, did Mike (Quatar11) ever end up making a kit for the conversion?
