Well its about that time to yank the old stock CD player and replace it. While im at it I will probably rip out the whole interior and dynamat it. hell why not replace all the speakers... and while im at it buy some subs... now the question is.. What brand of

1. CD player
2. Speakers
3. Subs
4. Amp

should I get? I have never been one of great audio expertise, my old GTi had a sony cd player, infinity 3" and Pioneer 6X9's in the hatch tray.. and it still sounded like sh!t. Anyways. Any suggestions of what I should go out and look for?

Matt

Also... lets keep prices down.. I know I could go get a 500 dollar CD player, but I would rather get the better deal on something cheaper. Ya know?

Pioneer i guess... etc... i dunno im tired...

Personally for me I favor two types of head units, Alpine and Pioneer...

as for speakers, MB Quart, Image Dynamics, CDT, or Diamond Audio

Subs only one kind; JL Audio W7 series

Amps only one kind; JL Audio...

but thats my opinion... others have different.

I agree mostly with DMvinny

Headunit: Alpine or Poineer Premiere

Speakers: Infinity Kappas

Subs: JL audio W7 (even W6) or Alpine Type R 12s

Amp: Planet Audio, JL Audio 1000/1 monoblock or even 500/1

How much do you have to spend, total?

I personally am going with kicker the whole way around, and possibly a blaupunkt or similar dvd head unit.

This isnt an awesome setup, but its pretty economical for you:

1. CD player - Pioneer

http://www.cardomain.com/item/BLAMONTEMP34

2. Speakers IE:

http://www.cardomain.com/item/BLATSX652

3. Subs/Amp

Im not sure how much I am willing to spend, I figure about 250ish for my head unit, no idea on speakers.. about 500ish for subs and maybe 300-375 for an amp. maybe.. I dont have the money yet, but im planning ahead... Also I have no experience in the whole Audio bit, so Im not sure if these prices im willing to spend are even near where they should be. correct me if im off.

Subwoofers: (4) JL Audio 10w6v2
Speakers: MB Quart 6 1/2" Fronts
Amps: (2) JL Audio 500/1

1. What do you want out of your audio system? Do you just want it to get loud? Do you want it to just sound amazing without much regard to loudness?

2. What kind of music do you listen to?

3. Do you care about looks of your components(Are you going to show them off?) Do you want to get mainstream stuff that you can find locally, or are you willing to get non-mainstream stuff that often is cheaper and far better?

You cant go wrong with anything Pioneer basically. They give warranties but anyone Ive talked to said its not even going to be needed since their stuff is so good. Had 2 10 inch Pioneer subs for over 2 years now and they still knock pretty well

1. I want good sound with clear highs and great bass (im addicted to bass, I play the bass guitar)

2. I listen to Rock, a little rap, but I try to steer clear wink.gif

3. To a degree, a little both. I dont want like 700 each subs, but I want it all to look good.

1. CD player - Panasonic
2. Speakers - Infinity (componets if you wanna spend the money for an amp)
3. Subs - Alpine Type R's.... the old ones
4. Amp - Directed 1100d, Viper 1200d (anything DEI) or JL

ok so you want more of a SQL setup... i myself listen to alot of metal and stuff with fast double bass and riffs and deep vocals and stuff.. personally to me, you should go with two 10"s in a sealed box...

Cd Players: Alpine, Clarion Pro Audio, Eclipse, JVC(AK 7000 or somethin along them lines), Kenwood Excelon, Panasonic, Pioneer Premier

id personally only choose the higher end HU's from JVC, Kenwood, and Panasonic.

Component Sets: Focal, Rainbow, Arc Audio, Adire Audio, Resonant Engineering, Diamond Audio, CDT, JL Audio, Infinity, Polk, Alpine, Dyn Audio, Kicker, Pioneer, Rockford Fosgate, MB Qaurt......personally id look into the RE set of components, nice low price and top grade, and i think Adire has a nice set for less than $200 too, or maybe a little more..

as i said above, id personally go with two 10"s or a single 12".. the reason i say this is because i listen to metal/alternative alllll the time all day long usually and a 15" or two 12"s i think will be too much for you.. and two 10"s or a single 12" can achieve the sound you want, to me anything more will be too sloppy. and the reason i suggest a sealed box is because it will give you the better tight/punch response that is awesome for kick drums and it has a nice... roll off i think..ok now on to subs.

Subs: Kicker(im biased and the square Solo's i think suck.. so id only go with the old round Solo's or the Comp/CompVR subs), Infinity(nice SQ/SQL subs here, sounddomain has a great deal on them right now, great for rock and stuff), JL(very common name.. nice subs and great sound, but a little pricey), MTX(nice subs if you go the 8000 series or up, or the new stuff, id go with 7500 and up, and yes ive heard em all aside from the 9500, and the stupid JackHammer), Adire Audio, Resonant Engineering, Image Dynamics(good deal on their stuff at SD too, ID is great), Xtant, Rockford Fosgate(not a fan of the new stuff.. the P3's arent bad, but i always liked the HX2's), Alpine(the Type R's are great, E's arent bad either), Orion, TREO....

amps(this includes amps for your components/subs): eh... well being that i just woke up i dont feel like typing alot again.... most of the brands i listed above have amps that will suite your needs...

anyway sorry if this sucks or whatever, but its my opinion.. so i hope i or others have helped you..
