Ok, so im thinkin of turboing the 5sfe, and theres a guy at my cottage who sells old toyota parts off toyotas up near my cottage, any ways, hez got about 6 CT26 singal entry turbos off the 7mgte supra motors. And, best part, he wants $30 for them..each. They are all in really good shape, theres one with 20000KM on it, it was off a supra the owner of the dealership north of there had then it got rear ended so he sent it to the scrap yard n this guy harvested it. Is there a way to use this turbo could work for a 5sfte project??

when u say "do you want to...? i cant see why", do you mean its not the best to use it? I was gonna get a lightened fly wheel so i could get it to spool up quicker and i was also gonna port and polish the manifold. I know the single entry is a bit bigger and ment for more exhaust flow and such, but couldnt i still use it? im only gonna b runnin like 5 or 6 psi of boost at most...

no, i didnt say you "couldnt" use it..you can if you want. but it WILL be laggy. the flywheel wont help.
and no, you cant run under the stock actuator setting. on the ct-26, twin-entry, its 7psi. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

manny is right you will be better off using one off of the MR2. for what you are looking to do just check ebay or MR2oc.com in there for sale section. you might have to spend upwards to 2-300 for a CT26 in decient shape. but you would get a lot more usable power. and in the end isn't that more fun! -------------------- 2002 Supercharged IS300 |

Apart from that, I, PERSONALY, would not get a single entry CT26 because they tend to crack on the exhaust housing when you raise the boost. It's a common issue with the supra guys, which is why they either switch it with a dual entry or upgrade to a BB or Garret turbo. just my 2 cents. |

They suck anyways...at low boost, they don't produce, and when they do produce, they are at their limit. CT-26 sucks...stay away from it. Get a Ford 2.3 liter Garrett turbo (TDO344 I think) and be happy...only thing you want to watch for is cracked turbine housing.

for the PSI he is looking to run the CT26 is an AWSOME turbo it is efficiant up to 13-15PS1 and he is only looking to run 7-8 which is the stock wastegate setting. also for the fast that the 3sgte mani will bolt right to his motor then turbo just saves him more money. CT26 best bang for buck i say. -------------------- 2002 Supercharged IS300 |
