Hi,

I could a lil help here.. My car origionally had a 5S-FE 2.2 engine and transmission. I just got a 1999 Solara V6 Transmission and I’m looking to install it. The 5S-FE was removed and replaced with a Gen 3 3S engine. At This Point I have just the transmission with nothing else..

I looking to confirm what engine mounts and bracket combination i need to get this done. Any information would help..

From what I understand after reading is that I can use the 94-99 ST205 engine mounts / brackets for the front back and top and I will be fine. Then use the stock ST205 engine mounts (including the timing belt side). Along with that I will need to order a set of ST205 shifter cables.

i also saw somewhere that I would have to use the cross member from the ST205 can someone please confirm!!!???

Thanks in advanced,

I seen a post from sphinx with some helpful information:

12361-74340.......... Insulator.......... $47.10
12371-74440.......... Insulator.......... $88.00
12372-74500.......... Insulator.......... $109.00

12311-74160.......... Bracket, EN.......... $40.00
12321-74310.......... Bracket, EN.......... $26.00
12325-74230.......... Bracket, EN.......... $53.00

33820-2B350.......... Shift Cables.......... $341.00

I ordered these through Champion Toyota and were all a special order from Japan. Those are the list prices for those items.

Also for the Axle configuration he posted the following...

My axels consist of :

91 MR2 Trubo INNER shaft
91 Camry V6 OUTER shaft

bold them together, pop them in the tranny and in the hub, and you're done.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m going to be using a 1999 Toyota Solara transmission so I’m assuming that the 93+ Toyota mr2 Axels will work fine. But to my knowledge they don’t matter because they are all made for the E153 transmission. The only exception is LSD or not.

PLEASE CONFIRM THIS FOR ME.. THANKS A MILLION!! :-)

its the same as the MR2 TURBO.. and yes.. ppl do use it in the 6 GEN.. and in the 5th GEN..the only diff is that you dont have to convert the cable on the other side. its already a FWD setup..

No you misread what I said. I didnt say people dont, I said I dont know IF anyone is currently using it. And as far as I know, the ST205 rear tranny bracket wont fit the E153 (by the look of pictures).

Yeah sphinx says that the ST205 & GT rear mounts work, but they're different, which now confuses me again.

Do me a favor, take a picture of the rear tranny mount bolt holes, I'm curious how it compares to the E153.

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=22856

That post has alot of good info. That also states that the GT front & rear mounts will work on the E153, but the drivers side mount wont. This may also work with the Solara tranny, but I cant be positive about that.

Super,
I know that you can use the GT front and rear mount and brackets. As for the driver side mounts, i know you can't use the GT mounts because the bracket is different and will not line up properly. The MR2 mounts will line up perfectly on the tranny, but not sure how it will mount up to the bracket welded on the chassis of the celica. That's why i didn't take a change and just bought the ST205 mounts. I just didn't feel like welding a mount.

Now maybe tomorrow I'll get under my car and look at the rear GT mount but if both GT & ST205 rear mounts work, then they would have to be identical no?

PS doesnt matter and as long as you have a GT crossmember it should be fine.

BTW: Where in NY are u?

And accord to MR2 guys their N/A mounts will work with the E153 when they do turbo swaps so if those S54 mounts work then I'd assume that 6g S54 mounts will also work.

Yeah no I think the Solara E153 and MR2 E153 have different rear mounts, not quite sure. I asked MR2 guys and they said that the top 2 bolts are used, which wouldnt bolt up to the ST205 rear bracket, however, the bottom maybe used also I'm not sure. I'd like sphinx to see which ones he'd use, if he was willing. rolleyes.gif
