are every LHD GT-Four (Europe) less powerfull (in HP) than the RHD (JDM) ones?

Since they both use the same 3S-GTE engine. The reason regular GTs are different in power (Europe/US/etc) is because they use different engines (5S-FE vs 3S-GE and 3S-FE).. -------------------- |

3S-GTE in Europe dont have the same specs as the JDM 3S-GTE
I think the JDM is 251HP and Europe 235HP or something close of that but I think it's all in the ECU that is not programmed the same I want to know if we swap a JDM ECU into a European 3S...the engine would upgrade This post has been edited by HaRv3sTeR: Jul 18, 2005 - 7:08 AM |

JMD =255 BHP

The ecu's are different and the difference in the fuel changes the output's. In Japan they run on 100 ron unleaded fuel, whereas in the UK (for example) we have regular unleaded fuel (95 ron) or Super Unleaded fuel (97 ron). The GT-Four runs far better on the 97 ron fuel.
The ecu's vary. In the 185RC, the ecu can run up to 17psi boost without hitting fuel cut, whereas the standard jdm 185 will run 13psi. I presume the ST-205 and the ST-205 WRC run the same principal. But as i'm of the ST-185 brigade, i couldnt tell ya for sure. Andy... |

JDM Cars are rated at 255PS.
So, about 245bhp. On the same fuel, JDM and Euro spec ECUs are as close as dammit. -------------------- JDM ST205

that fact about JMD is 245 BHP could save me over $600 a year when the new road tax come in........ can any one prove this figure for me, in any toyota spec' Russian new road tax = under 250BHP $1.50 per BHP = 367.5 $ over 250BHP $3.50 per BHP = 892.5 $ Anyone..... please ???? -------------------- Life is for living, and you don't get a second chance Take care now !! |

Power in Japan is measured in PS.
1.0 Japanese PS = 0.98632 BHP I have seen a number of ST205s stock make more than that on respected dynos. It's entirely possible that they underrated the ST205 to preserve supra sales (Supra TT conformed to the Japanese 280PS limit, but had a lot more than that in reality). -------------------- JDM ST205

I'd just tell them that the UK/Europe GT-Four made 239bhp according to the logbook. How much proof do they want?

[right][snapback]314302[/snapback][/right] The Supra pushes about 330 PS (because of the 15% +/- limit). So, you register the car as a 280 PS car, and add 15%. What do you get? 330 PS. This car is then legal even if it got about 50 PS more than the papers say. The 15% thingy was made because no engine is completely alike. So that car manufacturers could make their cars and register them all (same model, type, trim, year) using the same data. So a car sold as 100 bhp could actually have 85-115 bhp, and still be the "same" car. On the paper atleast. This system is used in Norway, and I'm sure they have something identical in other countries as well.. Just take the Supra as a good example. I don't think it's a coincidence that the (on paper) 280 PS Supra have 330 PS And to answer the thread, I'm pretty sure the cars have the same specs, Euro(UK) or JDM.. (of course you still have those 15% + or -, but the car is legal for insurrance and registration purposes anyway. My 5 cents goes towards this one by Mr.E: QUOTE JDM Cars are rated at 255PS.
