I had a great idea today. But want to hear you all about it before actually do it. Everyone knows that our projectors look like Mercedes E or S Class (dont know for sure) lights. And they have there turnsignal built into the Merc Projector itself. What if we removed the dimlight (or what its called) and rewire it for the Turn Signal. Spray a very bright bulb (Philip Vision Plus or Blue Vision) orange and VOILA.
Custom turn signals. And the ones in the bumpers can be molded away and you will have a clean looking bumper. Or do you guys think ive been smoking to much today?? (I dont smoke actually ) This post has been edited by Kadett: Jul 19, 2005 - 12:45 PM -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

Wrong. You need the side turn signals.
Why, otherwise they can't see from a side were youre going to. The small bulbs in the projectors aren't very good to see in daylight as well. I have to admit that the idee is great. When youre involved in an accident, and a car hit youre side because he can't see to wich direction youre heading to, than you can be ****ed by youre insurance company/ This post has been edited by Fietsbel: Jul 19, 2005 - 11:40 AM -------------------- |

Then increase the bulb size. BTW for the side, thats why our cars have sidemarkers

I considered doing that in parallel to the turns (both work as turns). I don't know if about replacing the turns completely
I just put mine in with my parking lights... and then a toggle switch to be able to eliminate them.. -------------------- If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.

I think it sounds promising but you would have to modify the sidemarkers to actually blink. I am pretty sure none of the USDM sidemarkers blink although they can be modified to do so....I could be wrong on this.

Modifying the side markers to blink is simple, either at the same time as the turn signal or alternating with the turn signal. All you need is one SPDT relay...you should use two but one would work.
Terminal 85 - one of the blinking turn signal wires Terminal 86 - ground Terminal 30 - parking lights +12 volts(actually, you'd want another relay for this) Terminal 87a - light-side of the cut sidemarker +12v wires (if you want the sidemarkers to be on when the parking lights are on but turn off when the turn signals are blinking. Terminal 87 - light-side of the cut sidemarker +12v wires (if you want the sidemarkers to be off when the parking lights are on but blink when the turn signals blink) Aren't the accent lights 194 bulbs in the projectors though? A 194 bulb can't put out enough light during the day to be visible in direct sunlight. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

yea 194 doesn't really work
because i did the same thing on my supra headlights i'm using a 194 bulb inside the headlight for a turnsignal and in the day light you can't see it at all and at night with the headlights on i think its just barely visable |

What exactly do you want to do? Sidemarkers on until the turn signals blink and then they turn off? Or vice versa, with the sidemarkers off until the turn signals blink and then the sidemarkers blink too? -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Well, if you want the sidemarkers on except when the turn signals are blinking, here's how you'd wire it up. Those big squares in the middle are just SPDT 30/40Amp automotive relays...you can find them at your local auto parts store or Radioshack.
Let me know if you need any help with it.
